Until I moved out of my parents house 2 years ago I had to give my parents money for bills, food etc. I was working full time so they demanded this.

While I don't live with them anymore, my younger sister does and she pays absolutely nothing despite working almost full time.

But that's not the worst part - for the last 18 months her boyfriend has been living there too. He sleeps there every night, apart from possibly one night a month at most. He also pays nothing despite eating there.

I'll sound very childish but it pisses me off that I had to pay while neither of them do. When I bring it up, my parents brush off the subject Hmm

Has your parents’ financial situation changed recently?

KrispShirt · 21/12/2018 22:52

No it hasn't @purpledaisies

How old are you and your younger sister OP?

KrispShirt · 21/12/2018 22:55

I moved out at 24, my sister is 23 now

Personally I would be annoyed.

I would, in your shoes, clearly express that you feel it is unfair favouritism and that whilst it’s their choice, it is impacting your view of them

PatricksRum · 21/12/2018 22:58

Oh not a huge age gap.
Maybe you ate more than them Grin

Bibijayne · 21/12/2018 22:59

I'd be annoyed. Have you spoken to your parents about this?

Therighthonourable · 21/12/2018 23:04

Same situation here. When I raise this with my mother she conveniently forgets the amount she used to charge me for rent etc.
My Mother tends to conveniently forget certain things and likes to say I am making them up.

Gave up making a point about it a while ago.

I feel you OP. It should be fair.

You need to say something otherwise it will just eat away at you, better to find out their reason why your being treated differently, maybe threaten to move back homeGrin
