I am at my mums and tkmaxx is the only shop within 10 miles of her (Tesco and Asda too but they're not exactly great for pressies).

What can I buy for two blokes in their 50s, both extremely intelligent (mensa intelligent), love cycling, both doctors, both travel widely (usually cycling through mountains somewhere), both festival goers, both readers who I would describe as 'normal but alternative'?

What the bloody hell do tkmaxx sell that I can buy them for Christmas (never been there)??

Help!

Can't you get them some posh vodka or gin from the supermarket?

LittleLongDog · 21/12/2018 14:40

With tkmax it’s more a case of what do they have at the time. You can’t really plan ahead with them. Go and have a look and if you really can’t find anything then socks/alcohol/food from Tesco would be my back up.

Cashmere hat and gloves
Headphones
Merino sweater
Tk always have a bike gadget stand too

BarbaraofSevillle · 21/12/2018 14:46

If they drink alcohol, I'd get them a nice bottle of spirits from the supermarket. Maybe a book or two each too. Much better than some random tat from the jumble sale that is TK Maxx.

GorgeousGrape · 21/12/2018 14:47

Is tkmaxx really awful? I've never stepped foot in one...

Yeah I'd go for some nice vodka/gin.

orangepopp · 21/12/2018 14:50

I love Tk maxx. I got DP a leather wallet from there. They had loads of xmas gifts

TokyoSushi · 21/12/2018 14:52

Go to Asda or Tesco, you can get stuff in there that'll be fine, there's a nice looking ordnance survey quiz book that would probably appeal to your type of recipient

TokyoSushi · 21/12/2018 14:54

This, it's certainly available in our local Sainsbury's, or do you have amazon prime?

A nice reusable water bottle.

bookmum08 · 21/12/2018 14:57

Tkmaxx sells left over discounted stock from other retailers so sometimes it's great bargains sometimes it's useless. The supermarkets will be way better. Booze, chocs, socks, paperback books.....

wakemewhenitsallover · 21/12/2018 14:57

TK Maxx is brilliant, you can get some amazing bargains!

OrdinarySnowflake · 21/12/2018 15:00

Don't try, get them a small box of chocolates/bottle of wine so they can open something, then a wiggle voucher each. (Online Bike stuff shop).

PickleMeThis · 21/12/2018 15:00

Can you order from amazon?

What about Schott's Original Miscellany book?

(I recommend this to everyone - ‘it’s awesome!)

AgentProvocateur · 21/12/2018 15:02

Get them a couple of really nice wine/gin/whisky glasses in TK Maxx (it’s good for that sort of thing) and a nice bottle of the appropriate alcohol from the supermarket.

OrdinarySnowflake · 21/12/2018 15:02

Or subscription to Cyclist magazine? Think you can do that completely online and just print out.
