Someone told me they did this. Part of me does wonder if it actually happened at all but it made me worry maybe my ex could do it if he wanted to and I would be completely screwed (though I know I'm lucky in that I get it at all compared to many)

Parent A is resident parent. Parent B is NRP

A is a high earner and has high savings. B earns less but also high savings.

A takes B to court for maintenance. B puts money into a savings account for child calculated to the full amount that would have been paid in total, ever.

Court says that's ok. Maintenance is paid.

Would that ever happen?!

No because child maintenance does not get paid to the child. It is paid to the primary carer for the child’s upkeep which includes housing and food costs etc.
