How long for teachers to get back to me

On the 7th December I wrote to my ds school (year 10) asking for feedback about her progress in a subject he is really struggling with.
I got an answer on the 10th saying they will be in touch

On the 13th the school reports came out, which were absolutely dreadful (masses below targets). I wrote to the school highlighting my concerns and wondering why nothing had been flagged on their system.
I got an email back saying they shared my concerns and assured me they would look into it (though would take time)

How long is reasonable to wait for an update / plan of action.
I understand it's the end of term, Xmas etc so nothing I guess will happen until next term, but just looking for comments from other parents

Don't start stressing just yet the GCSE years are a marathon not a sprint. I'm sure early in the new year you will get some feedback, I'm sure all of the kids will get much more focused ideas of where they are and what they need to do too. Often much of the syllabus is completed by this time next year and they spend the remainder of the time concentrating on revision and various techniques.

In the meantime you have a few weeks off with your DD to try and help her through, my advise would be to be guided by her, you don't want to push her so far in the opposite direction by being overbearing and as well as exam stress these few years often carry a lot of personal stress too. If she's open to it you can sit down with her and help organise her time so it doesn't get too overwhelming for her.

Don't try and tackle too much all at once, highlight a couple of things that could make a massive difference and get her to focus on those.

Good luck.

Whilst you are awaiting a response- do you know why he is struggling? E.g. additional needs, doesn’t revise at home, the class is too fast paced etc. Does he revise during school holidays?

For secondary school, I would imagine it would take quite a while. They're possibly teaching about 200 students? If you've written twice in one week, and everyone did the same, that's 400 emails. So, I don't think I'd expect a quick response.
