How do I turn off bastarding autoplay ads on chrome?

Really irritable and short on sleep and energy and know I'm making a mountain from a molehill but I'm annoyed.

My internet is being weak as shit at the minute and all these fucking autoplay ads are clogging it up more - how can I turn it off? Google says go to settings ---> site settings, but my version of chrome does not have site settings?

I can only see a 'content' tab under settings with stuff like ask before playing flash, using mic, etc. Any ideas?

Have you installed adblock? I find it really helpful.

If you're on mobile click on the three dots then click settings. Go down and select ads. It lets you block intrusive or misleading ads. Hope this helps!

How do I turn off bastarding autoplay ads on chrome?

Adblock is good but it doesn't stop those bastards at the bottom of the page that keep going on and on and on (if you are talking about MN.) So bloody annoying.

AbsentmindedWoman · 18/12/2018 12:05

Yes, the autoplay videos on MN and on news sites and similar? Maybe there is no way of shutting them down.

Other ads are blocked I think.

Ideally you need a combination of AdBlock and NoScript which stops pages running javascript (and thus eating up your electricity bill and wear *& tear).

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 18/12/2018 13:10

So NoScript would get rid of those irritating people next to the reply box?

And I would have to turn it off for other sites. Am going to give it a try because those buggers are really annoying me, nodding, pointing and grimacing all day.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 18/12/2018 18:34

It has stopped!!
I haven't installed anything although did have a look and discovered that Google made some changes which prevented the blockers working, so left it.

Walking on Eggshells now needs to be clicked on to play. Hooray.

Any chance it could be a virus? download nalwarebytes and do a quick scan.
Adblock should work, another adblock you could try is ghostery as an add on from chrome.

*malwarebytes..
