To think that I’m probably not ill?

Had a uterine biopsy just over three weeks ago, just to “make sure” the gynaecologist said. Results would be posted in 7-10 days. Waited. Rang after 14 days, results in, but couldn’t tell me over the phone, secretary would put them on gynaes desk that day. That was 6 days ago. I’m hoping I’ve worried myself stupid for nothing. Because there isn’t no rush getting back to me is there?

No news is good news! If it were anything to worry about, you’d know. Fingers crossed. Chase them up again tomorrow, you don’t want to worry hanging over you at Christmas.

Strongmummy · 17/12/2018 19:27

Rather than worrying and asking on here when we’ve literally got zero clue, call ur doctor until you get an answer!

LittleMe03 · 17/12/2018 19:30

Bless you. I feel for you. I had a concerned smear test months back. Was told I would get a letter within 6 weeks. 6 long worrying, panicking weeks. I rang after 6 weeks to the day to be told there was a delay and would get a letter in the post in the next 2 weeks. 2 weeks later on the day I phoned again. Told another two weeks. Thankfully 3 days later I had the news that all was ok but it's bloody awful this waiting game for news like that.

My DP kept telling me, no news is good news and that turned out to be right so I really hope it is for you as well OP and I hope you get good news this week so that you can relax over Christmas x

LittleMe03 · 17/12/2018 19:32

@Strongmummy I understand how OP feels and she probably just wants a virtual hand hold Confused

soundsgreektome · 17/12/2018 19:37

I have rung the hospital numerous times, call goes unanswered or is cut off, except the one time I got through. Obviously I’ve tried, who wouldn’t? I can’t do much more, except to keep ringing, which I will. I have now come to the conclusion that no news is good news. I wasn’t asking for your opinion as to what the results are!

@littleme03 - I have health anxiety. Had it for years. It’s debilitating. I understand the desire for reassurance however it’s irrational to expect to get answers here. The doctor has the results and can give the answers, not randoms on line. That was my point. Don’t waste emotional energy when you could get your answers by being assertive with the doc

Strongmummy · 17/12/2018 19:41

Also if you’re getting no answers by calling go and see them. I get you’re not asking us to tell u results but we also can’t say for sure that no news is good news

Weezol · 17/12/2018 19:44

Look up the number for your local hospital's PALS - they should be able to chivvy things along.

soundsgreektome · 17/12/2018 20:10

I’ll ring again tomorrow, and ring PALS too. If I was in urgent need of treatment, I guess and hope I would have heard by now. I won’t be demanding to speak to the doctor, nor will I turn up at the hospital.

That kind of approach may well explain why I’ve waited an extended period of time. The NHS is already on its knees without people making demands on their time.

Thanks for the virtual handholds and the kind understanding comments.

Did you get anywhere today?

soundsgreektome · 18/12/2018 20:50

Yes! I spoke to the gynae secretary, she couldn’t give me the results, but she did say that I had no reason to worry! Which is actually enough for me. Still need a smear test, in a few weeks, but the worry is not hanging over me anymore. Thank you for asking.

Good news! Glad to hear it's on the way to being done and dusted.
