Ebay seller is making me mad.

Hi,
I placed an order on eBay on 4/12 at 7am and item was dispatched that day.
Have since received nothing, asked for tracking Friday and was told Royal Mail was a bit slow. Saturday still nothing so asked for refund as I still need to order the gift and allow time for a new one to get here. Seller refused and said wait until the weekend is over.
Monday, post has come, still no gift so requested refund again.
Have since been told they have called Royal Mail who tried to deliver but I wasn’t in, so parcel is at the sorting office.
I’ve had no red card so asked for tracking to chase it up and they’ve said they don’t send tracked.
Am I right I’m thinking with no tracking, they wouldn’t know if Royal Mail have tried to deliver. They just keep stating I must go pick it up, but with no tracking how would anyone know it’s there.
I’m not sure if I’m being unreasonable expecting a refund but feel like they’re messing me about as their messages just don’t add up!

Put in a paypal
Claim

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 17/12/2018 13:42

Depends if you paid for tracking.
Was it first class?

MinorRSole · 17/12/2018 13:44

Put in a claim - if they can't send proof then PayPal will find in your favour. If it's not tracked then Royal Mail won't have been able to tell them a thing and they are talking rubbish.
Lots of liars and scammers on eBay this time of year but you won't get your money back before Christmas

BarbaraofSevillle · 17/12/2018 13:47

Without tracking, the seller has no idea whether or not the post office have tried to deliver. If you don't have a card, they haven't tried to deliver.

However, on normal post, Royal Mail won't regard an item is lost until 2 or 3 weeks have passed, so you aren't at that stage yet, especially as it is the busiest time of year.

Once the time specified by RM has passed, the seller will be able to claim from them, providing they got proof of postage, and at the same time, they should refund you anyway.

Can you buy the item again from a shop, so you will be able to take it back for a refund, should the posted item show up?

Open a case on eBay,

Happysaurus · 17/12/2018 13:56

I couldn’t pay for tracking, it only had the option for 48 hour courier that they’ve since said is Royal Mail standard post.

I will start a paypal claim as eBay can’t step in until 23rd.

Thank you all for confirming I’m not going mad. I’m not sure how they can say there is no tracking but they’ve tracked it to my sorting office!

That's bollocks! You can't telephone RM and ask if they've delivered a parcel, unless maybe it is a tiny hebridean island where the village shop doubles as the post office and the shopkeeper is the postman!!!!!!

Unless the parcel is tracked in some way, no delivery company, including RM will have a clue if the parcel has been delivered or not.

Open a case.

AdobeWanKenobi · 17/12/2018 14:35

If you don't have a card, they haven't tried to deliver

Oh if only that were true.
I've been fighting a 6 month battle with my local office over not leaving cards to the point where I call in once a month now to check there is nothing there for me.

Personally I'd go to the sorting office and double check. Don't always rely on a card.

Drogosnextwife · 17/12/2018 14:40

No there has been a distinct lack of cards for deliveries recently. I've had emails from delivery companies say they lady a card but haven't. I've had cards left with no instructions as to where.my parcel is or what I should do or phone numbers left where no one answers. Deliveries are shocking now.

I had that last year, tried to communicate with the seller nothing, so I put in a claim. She suddenly messaged that she sent it last week. I got my money back, 2 days later it had come, the postage date was 2 days ago. Lying bint, waited a month for the item as well. If only she had messaged me on paying that she would be be available until X date, than I would have been more sympathetic.
