Was my birthday the bother day went out for dinner somewhere fancy all in taxis drinks £200 we did plan this as we never go out I have some health issues and some major surgeries coming up so wanted to go all out. But now all he is going on about is having no money snippy comments like well we could if we didn't spend so much on one meal. Oh we could buy our son that if we hadn't spent so much on a few drinks etc etc. So it's gone from feeling really spoilt and happy to pissed off n upset as he clearly didn't enjoy himself Sad

That's a lot to spend if you couldn't afford it.

mumonashoestring · 16/12/2018 21:12

I suspect he did enjoy himself but is now feeling guilty about it. Might be worth reminding him you both planned it and agreed it together and that the pissing and whining isn't going to put the money back in your pockets, it's just ruining the memory of the evening for you.

Resentment in a relationship is never good ime.
If he didn't agree though the time to say was pre spending not after.
Remind him it was a one off - and request that he be more supportive of your future health issues, if he can't he needs to go imo.

@TinkerSpy we put money aside for this occasion and can afford it. My point being he keep making snippy comments about the money. I spent more than that on him and never mentioned it. I hate having my birthday at Christmas

Being treated for your birthday should be guilt free!!! He's an arse for throwing it in your face, and why is he goin on now when it's been spent, tell him to STFU

TinkerSpy · 16/12/2018 21:20

Then he's being pretty unreasonable - it was planned and saved for, he had the enjoyment of it too.

And ditto, my birthday is in early Jan so I get it!
