To ask what you get your work colleagues

I have 4 lady colleagues and 1 man, I want to get them a token gift, 1 lady colleague is mid 20s and still lives at home, the other 3, 50s. The man is 50s too, I have no idea what to get them. Trying to avoid smellies, candles and chocolates. Any ideas gratefully received.

Costa giftcard?

ShadyLady53 · 15/12/2018 20:20

Everyone I work with loves alcohol (I’m teetotal).

I’ve tailored the choice to the individual though so a “good” bottle of cava or red wine, pink gin and Prosecco.

In previous years, Starbucks Travel Mugs and Voucher went down very well.

Your Dad. Hmmm, does he drink? Have any hobbies?

ShadyLady53 · 15/12/2018 20:21

My Dad loves cars and football. Successful gifts include personalised car mats and a plug in “heated seat”, his FC’s hoodie, scarf, wallet and so on.

Booze is a good idea, suppose that does always go down well.

My dad does drink but not in the house then he has an excuse to go to the pub lol His only hobby really is fishing, but he has everything he needs for that and he only uses the best stuff

I would put feelers out as to what your colleagues want to do about gifts. Won't it be awkward if you get all of them a gift and they haven't got anything for you / each other? I've worked in a lot of places and never got gifts for all my colleagues - is more normal to either not get gifts or someone organises a 'Secret Santa'

Justkeeepsmiling · 15/12/2018 20:33

@BackforGood It has already been talked about, They have all asked in a round about way what sort of stuff I like so I'm assuming they'll get me something, and we do get each other token gifts for birthdays, Anyway, I don't give to receive so I wouldn't be bothered if they didnt get me anything

I own the business so my 5 work colleagues received £1k (before tax) in their bank account yesterday.

Justkeeepsmiling · 15/12/2018 23:37

@senior.Thats a lovely thing to do, but I can't quiet stretch to that. 😁
