Party foods that DONT contain nuts

DD2 has been asked to bring in some party food (has to be sweet) that doesn't contain nuts.

The problem I've got is I'm absolutely useless at baking and don't really have the time. Is there anything I can walk into a shop and buy ready to go to school without making much effort? Was thinking party rings but they contain nuts. Any ideas because I haven't got a bloody clue!

Chocolate cornflake cakes. Make or buy them, no nuts.

Fruit kebabs

Chocolate, about 6 cheap 40p bars in Sainsburys, butter, and syrup. Cake cases. Slowly melt (microwave or hob), 1/3 pack of butter, about 4 tablespoons of syrup and mix together. Melt chocolate slowly, poor on half a big box of cornflakes in a bowl, add the melted butter/syrup mixture and stir. Spoon into cake cases. Stick in fridge. 20 minutes they are done.

Most kids like cornflake cakes and not a nut in sight.

Sainsbury's and Tesco do nut free tray bake cakes

Also things like fruit winders etc

Why would the chocolate contain nuts? Just buy plain milk chocolate.

Lots of chocolate is may contain nuts and can cause severe reactions.

Do you have a home bargains near or Iceland? They sell boxes of muffins and brownies from a company called Bromptons House that are nut free.

Feeling very grumpy at the min (and stressed)

Not for the fact that the party food has to be nut free but the pressure that schools put on you the week before Christmas. Got a list as long as my arm for next week and a calendar that's full! I know the kids love all the dressing up days, partys etc but my brains gunna pop if anything else gets added...

What about a box of mcvities family circle biscuits?

Haribos all the way in my ds's school. (He has a nut allergy)

My son has allergies to nuts (amongst other things) and we tell people Haribo is good as long as it's the veggie friendly one (as it's suitable for Halal). Otherwise most supermarkets have a wide range of nut free items.

Oh god yes. Haribos! Perfect. No mess, no fuss.

Jaffa cakes. I currently have 200 sat in my boot for this exact reason!

@Tinty, Why would the chocolate contain nuts? Just buy plain milk chocolate.
Because even plain chocolate is likely to have been produced on the same production line as the fruit and nut bars.
Also, ground hazelnuts are often in chocolate, particularly continental varieties.

When Cadbury's first produced their Big TasteTriple Chocolate bar DD was over the moon as it didn't contain nuts. Few months later, she was feeling down and treated herself to a bar. She ended up in A&E being treated for anaphylactic shock as she didn't realise they'd changed the recipe to include hazelnut paste.

Kinnerton produce chocolate suitable for nut allergy sufferers.

The triple chocolate bar caught me out too, thankfully I’m only allergic to peanuts but I raced to the antihistamine as I’ve never eaten any kind of nut.

Haribo, kinnerton (available in Poundland, a lot of character chocolate is kinnerton eg paw patrol), free from in super markets have a few nut free options

Party rings ?

Galaxy is our go-to chocolate for nut free. Orange clubs, yorkie biscuits, blue riband, fruit winders, Tesco sweet and salty (and poss the others but that's the one we get) popcorn, most crisps. Kinder stuff is well labelled so as long as you pick something that doesn't say "may contain" would be fine. Kinnerton is absolutely nut free. Haribo is what I sent a supply of to school for DS to have if children handed out birthday sweets the teacher wasn't sure were safe.

Getting stuff that doesn't even say "may contain" is a PITA, just be glad you are only doing it for one party!

I'm not. I'm doing it for 2 but what goes for one will go for the other. I've got 3 DC. 2 are at school at one at nursery... none of which have any allergies so I was a bit clueless where to start but got some brill ideas now. Love the power of mumsnet!
