Visiting family after move abroad

SIL and family have moved abroad with a young family. We also have children too. Been getting grief from MIL that we need to visit more, has even told will pay for us to go. AIBU in thinking if you move abroad, from choice, then you can't really expect people to do this, and should really make the effort to come back yourself and see people if you miss them?

We go back to see my family once a year and I will never expect anyone to come here. And we went back once every few years before children. You don’t need to go and visit at all.

We have done two stints overseas. We had visitors, but I definitely agree that there wasn't and shouldn't be any expectation on our part.

We lived in the UK for quite a number of years now and the majority of our siblings and friends still haven't visited us. However, several of them have been to London and posted it on FB and I can't help thinking that if we had lived in London they would only have visited us for free accommodation anyway so screw them. They also do complain that we don't se them enough when we are back home.

We moved overseas and are happy to have visitors come and see us. But it really grates that some people have the attitude that it's entirely encumbent upon the people who moved to make all the effort to keep in touch
