Takeway Margarita Pizza - They never add basil!

So I’ve googled this with absolutely no joy.

Every time I order a margarita/margherita pizza from a takeaway, even if they’re awesome in every other way, the pizza has no f*cking basil! Given the pizza in question has a mere three simple ingredients what’s going on?

Basil isn’t that expensive, is it?

In your area, is this the same? Am I just hugely unlucky?

It’s listed in the motherf*cking ingredients ffs!

You pay for the basil. Where is the fucking basil?

Should I have to call the restaurant and say, ‘hey, restaurant, I just ordered a margarita from you, and although the ingredients listed are tomato, mozzarella and basil, could you please be sure to put on the basil?’

‘Oh, you’ll add basil then, because I’ve called? That’s great! I’m so grateful you’re adding a listed ingredient! Aren’t you amazing? K, then, Thks, bye!’

You might need to find a posher takeaway joint or buy a basil plant, OP. In my home town it's a shorthand for ”cheese and tomato” and people would faint with shock to find green stuff on it.

I could probably do this for 50 posts with variations on the telephone conversation, but won’t.

I no longer live in the UK and where I live they would always put fresh basil on the margherita pizza, and garlic. I have never had a good takeaway pizza in the UK. Do you have a pizza express near you? They are the only place that does decent pizza.

I always have a basil plant on the go. They have a tendency to smell slightly like cats piss but hey I’m cool with that.

And I got my pizzas from the best place in town and honestly, totally lush - but where the fuck was the basil?

Also did you order your pizza to soak up a few drinks, OP, because this has all the hallmarks of a drunk thread?

@WereYouHareWhenIWasFox yeah there’s a pizza express and I like them. But there’s a proper Italian pizza joint and honestly it’s like heaven in your mouth, but even THEY don’t put on the funking basil!

DD went to Pizza Express with school design and technology my arse, she brought home 3 slices of pizza for the rest of the family, I was shocked that she'd actually voluntarily put leaves on her pizza!

Are you sure tha basil isn’t in the tomato sauce or does it specifically say ‘fresh basil’?

I hope it’s apparent that I’m being silly on purpose about the drunk shaming.

One can never tell how things will go down these days.

After all, this thread is essentially about basil or lack thereof.

@KonaMum you could give a point, there. Even so, a leaf or two to denote basil inclusion would be nice.
