To think you’d just give up - Parking!!!

So it’s a parking thread but a little different.

I was on a one way road trying to get on my jolly way. With a row of assigned parking to my right.

Someone visiting /resident was trying to park up..

There was someone on the left side of their space, right side was empty. There was also a car parked on the opposite side of the road.

The driver spent FIFTEEN minutes trying to reverse park!! I’m not exaggerating. FIFTEEN MINUTES.

Every time they edged forwards they would get too close to the car opposite but they kept reversing back to their left side where there was another car.

5 minutes in I was Shock

10 minutes in I was Angry

When they finally bloody parked I was Grin

AIBU to think you’d just say ‘fuck it’ and park in straight after three failed attempts?!

Well, you didn’t do a diagram did you? Grin

Good for them! I admire their resilience. I used to give up when I couldn't get into a spot, does that make me better? You think people should give up and stop trying because they're not mastering a skill quick enough?

No Joopy79 I don’t expect someone to give up after failed attempts when all alone on an abandoned road. But with someone waiting to get through.... yes, give up. You’re not getting in!

Espresso that was my thinking!! The shame of it. Plus with someone watching I would have been so worked up I’d never have got in, probably would have crashed into the left car to be honest. But i didn’t think about someone recording - I’m not ready for YouTube fame!

Grin It was probably me! I am incredibly stubborn when I decide that I will be parking in a small space. My driving instructor once said that he had never had a student who parallel parked with such single minded determination. I once spent 25 minutes getting into a space, only about 2 feet longer than the car and I have no idea how I managed it, only that once he said it was too small, it became a point of pride and I was not losing face.

Yep...i watched a huge land rover in my room park on and off the pavement for 20 minutes last week. No other cars there but road slight curve. Honestly why drive a car you cant park. I didnt see the end as dd needed new nappy but car was parked badly when i walked past later.

Haha this post made me giggle! I love seeing videos like this on the internet. Although I have to say I hate parking and parallel parking is definately at the top of the list for me - I wouldn’t even attempt it otherwise it would be me on the bloody internet (which would probably be karma I guess)

JustDriveInStraightYouKnob · 13/12/2018 21:46

Yes I opt to never parallel park! Tis beyond me and I would rather walk an extra ten minutes.

DH is terrible at swinging into spaces in shopping centres and such, so he always compliments me on my excellent swing Grin and I happily agree as if it’s some masterful skill I have spent years refining.

Yes I would’ve given up. I’m actually dreading my kids growing up so I can’t use the P&C parking anymore...they’re a lifesaver for those like me with bugger all special awareness!
