Not posting for sales by the way😊
Due to a serious injury sustained on duty i was forced to leave my career.
I began making jewellery to raise money for charity.
A family member has dismissed my efforts and said nobody would buy my stuff.
I've lost confidence and would really appreciate some impartial advice please.
I will attach a couple of photo's.I will donate 100% of the profit to charity.
Thank you very much for reading this nd of you have time to leave your advice, should I keep going?or is it awful?

personally, no. looks a bit cheap. How much did the stuff cost?

itbemay · 11/12/2018 19:24

I think they are pretty. You should set up an Instagram page and see how it goes. Good luck

beanaseireann · 11/12/2018 19:24

I think it looks lovely.
Not my style of jewellery but it is really nice.

Hofuckingho · 11/12/2018 19:24

I love it. I would definitely buy it.

Workreturner · 11/12/2018 19:26

Not for me or indeed any friend beck see they are something more pitched at 50 plus I reckon

But I can see that the first one is lovely (and the second one is certainly nice too)

fussygalore118 · 11/12/2018 19:27

Not my cup of tea.

Tonicandginn · 11/12/2018 19:28

I really like the first one - it is the kind of thing I would take with me on a beachy holiday as the colours would look lovely with a tan.

Also don’t let other people’s opinions get in the way of you doing something you enjoy - just because they aren’t to their taste doesn’t mean they aren’t to anyone else’s!

raindancemumma · 11/12/2018 19:28

Try selling on Etsy. You're jewellery isn't what I'd wear (I'm minimal, if anything atm) but I know ladies who'd love it. It's lovely that you're donating the proceeds to charity too. Good luck Smile

MaryofMislethwaiteManor · 11/12/2018 19:28

Very St Ives.

SparklyLeprechaun · 11/12/2018 19:29

I'm not sure, I think they are pretty but not my style so I wouldn't buy it.

Oysterbabe · 11/12/2018 19:29

My MIL wears stuff like this all the time.

Huntawaymama · 11/12/2018 19:30

Not really my thing. My mum might wear the first one

Aridane · 11/12/2018 19:31

I think it lovely ( though not my style). Second the suggestion of Etsy

CherryPavlova · 11/12/2018 19:32

Not my style, I’m afraid and I’m 50 plus. I was thinking maybe a younger market.

OrigamiZoo · 11/12/2018 19:32

I like the second one, why don't you add some bits that can be personalised or engraved, so instead of that tree charm a heart with choice of initial or a message. Try using real silver too.

KarmaStar · 11/12/2018 19:42

Thank you all for your honest opinions I really appreciate you taking the time.💖

I think you need better quality stuff. Some of the beads look like plastic and you can see the chain through them.

That's just my opinion though. Others may love it.

Joinourclub · 11/12/2018 19:47

I prefer the second one. The first looks like the stuff I used to make as a teenager - I loved the bead shop! I only really like fully beaded jewellery now if it’s really nice quality beads.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 11/12/2018 19:48

I am not much help as I don't wear things like that but I do know that it can be difficult to sell as so many people make it. You need to stand out from all the others, and then someone will copy you.

Look on Ebay and you can get an idea.

Pachyderm1 · 11/12/2018 19:51

Not my thing but they look well made and I can imagine other people would like them. Your relative is an arsehole!

onlyonmumnet · 11/12/2018 19:52

Beautiful! You are very talented. Etsy or instagram is a great shout Smile

FuchsiaG · 11/12/2018 19:54

I would buy them, they're lovely.

KarmaStar · 11/12/2018 19:55

Thank you again.I do use the best quality crystals and silver and many of the beads are semi precious gem stones.I very much find your advice helpful and constructive and see that I need to up my game.

The first one is lovely and I’d buy it for Christmas presents or myself. Second one I’m less keen on.definitly try Etsy

Inkspellme · 11/12/2018 20:01

I think that if you are making the jump rings yourself or just manipulating them you’ve gotten them very well aligned and in shape. That’s a plus. I think your materials look cheap and that distracts from the fact that your eye for colour is good.

Etsy is a good call but there is lots of competition there. No one is going to buy on Etsy because they know you. Your jewelry is going to need to be wanted without that help.

If I were you I would look at what others are doing for inspiration and put your own spin on it. Yours - while made well - don’t look distinctive enough to stand out against other hand made jewelry.

Lastly - your price point matters. No point in making something that just pays for materials but it is costume jewelry so shouldn’t be expensive either. It’s a fine balance!
