To ask for help with buying a night vision camera?

DP has strongly hinted that he would like a night vision camera for Christmas. We often visit a remote area that's rich in wildlife, and he wants to know what the wildlife is doing in the hours of darkness. What he'd like is an outdoor (waterproof) camera which is triggered by movement, and which takes still photos and video.

There are so many different ones that I can't decide. Has anyone got one of these, and does it work well? If so, could you please tell me which one you have got?

How can I find out if the camera will work with Apple Mac computers/laptops? It has to work with a Mac. Thank you, if you can help. I haven't got a clue about buying technology.

Amazon is your friend, for 80 pounds you can get a camera that is in a weather proof box, triggered by movement, night vision video and still photography.

Thanks, Buster. Yes, it's the fact that there are so many different ones on Amazon that's causing my problem. I have no idea which one to go for, so I wondered if anyone had had any experience of a particular camera and found it to be good.

I have something similar to this one. Has a removable memory card which holds all the images/videos. Which I then just pop in the laptop. I presume Mac's can take memory cards? I've got a Windows pc do I'm not sure.

I was looking at these the other day. I found some article that reviewed cameras, and it said this one was the best.

These are ones that you attach to a tree etc and it takes pictures in response to movement, so not sure if that's the type you are looking at.

I bought a Victure one after reading all the reviews everywhere, that is the best way to make a decision, especially if you use Amazon and ask questions if they are not answered already in the Q&A section. Mine was about £50 so maybe not the exact one you want but they have good reviews in general.

Thanks very much.

Ah - memory cards. That's how it works, is it? That makes sense. I shall have to find out if Macs take memory cards. I expect they do. (I ought to know this, because I've got a Mac - I've never tried to do anything with it beyond the basics.)

Yes, that's exactly the sort of thing he wants.
