Not to pay DRP parking fine twice?

Hello, I didn't really know where to post this sorry,

I received a letter this morning off a company called DRP saying I hadn't paid a parking fine and that they were going to suggest their client take me to court unless I pay them £160.

THING IS... I already paid the parking fine of £60 to the 'client' (the original car park company) in early November as soon as I got the original letter.
I have proof of this in the form of screen shots and the email they sent me saying thank you for your payment.
They apparently have now sold on my 'debt' to this DRP who want me to pay an extra £160??
Although I've already paid the 'debt' *
*
By the way the original fine was £60 for an over stay of 4 minutes because I was slow walking back from a baby scan at the hospital Blush it was my first parking fine ever and paid the £60 as soon as I got the letter.

I'm really scared. I can't afford to pay it again plus more? And should I have to? I've already paid it.

The company DRP were vile on the phone and hung up twice then the 3rd call basically called me a liar and told me bailiffs would collect the debt if I didn't pay.

Please help Sad

You should go back to the original company and get them to call off the dogs

NotANotMan · 08/12/2018 15:29

Don't pay!
They won't take you to court.

Bambamber · 08/12/2018 15:29

You don't need to pay it again. Have you sent a copy of the proof to DRP?

yesmelord · 08/12/2018 15:29

I've tried contacting the original company numerous times today by phone but there is no answer.Confused

Speak to Citizens Advice on Monday. DRP can't call in baliffs without taking court action. Write to the original company. cc DRP, and include every piece of paperwork you have, including your proof of payment and correspondence from DRP. Document everything. Don't worry, baliffs aren't going to turn up on your doorstep.

Yes I've sent a screen shot of the original payment receipt from the original company with the reference number to DRP, and they said they want bank details of the original transaction too? Like the card number etc, But I'm a bit wary to send them anything more.

I've been in this situation

I just told them to take me to court

Needadvice101 · 08/12/2018 15:41

And what happened easy

DRP will not have bought the debt. They are just debt collectors for the original parking company which has made an admin error.

Go to MSE's private parking charges forum and start a post there. You will get expert help and reassurance.

DRP CANNOT send in bailiffs without a county court judgment.

And what happened easy

I'd paid it, I had the proof of payment in my hands and said that I felt very confident in the event that they'd take me to court. I refused to send any evidence (although I offered to send it if they'd pay me the value of the fine) and reiterated that they needed to check their records again

They never took me to court, and a few months later I got a letter apologizing as they had misallocated my payment to another fine. I also got compensation

yesmelord · 08/12/2018 16:06

I've just emailed the original parking place too, I'm going to print everything off too and have it in one place i think to back me up.

I'd be very wary of them wanting card details. As you've paid, you have nothing at all to worry about. Say you have paid, and let them take you to court. Crooks.

I've never been threatened with court action before and at 24 weeks pregnant with a 2 year old toddler and Home all week alone while my partner works I'm stressed enough as it is and this has sent me over the edge today.

I'm shaking and crying in worry and I feel sick.
They were so horrible on the phone and they made me feel really small and stupid.

I've printed off all my supporting documents of the receipts of my original payment. including the emails I've sent the original company and the DWP company.

I've been reading a few stories online of people in the same situation with the same companies. I'm not going to send any bank details over, they don't look like the most reputable company from what I'm reading.

Just ordered pizza and ice cream to cheer me up!
