Arm pain- what could this be,?

Wake up several times a night with throbbing pain in right arm. Started 6 months ago. Dr referred me for MRI in July ( have a tiny cyst on spine ). Specialist can see no issues so referred back to Dr. Dr gives me blood test. Nothing showed up. Am on amatriptoline ( 50mg) taken 11pm at night but still wake up around 3am and it is agony. Take ibrobrofen.throughout day so it's manageable. Waiting to see Specialist again in January but expect same ( non diagnosis?) as when I last saw him in September. Trying not to Google. Dont want to just keep taking codeibe etc forever. Want to know what it could be. Anyone had similar?! Any tips/ ideas? Tia

Is it your upper arm? Could it be a frozen shoulder?

Have had that in both arms and the pain was excruciating. Can you raise arm up etc?

Are you trapping something while sleeping? Can you use a pregnancy pillow to prop yourself in a position?

Armpain mainly around forearm and around elbow (can?). Can lift arms up no issues. Also have occasional weakness in same arm and have dropped odd items.

I've tried to ( Train myself?) To sleep on the opposite side. It gets worse when it's cold - not sure if thats relevant.

I have the same but in both arms and tingling on my hands n wrist pain . I was told I have bulging discs on the top of my spine also have serval cysts been like this for 2 years now had mri scan on lower back and neck and nothing except what I have said above . It’s basically nerve pain .
I try sleep with my arm straight under my pillow helps for a few hours. I take amitriptyline and cocodomol also helps for a couple hours. Have a return appointment in January at neurology see how that goes xx

Hi, I know this is an old thread but I have exactly the same symptoms and docs don't know what it is. Did you find out what it was?

Hi , not exactly - had tests for carpal tunnel but results negative. Am on naproxen and Gaberpentin and awaiting hospital sppointment for nerve pain injections. I also wear wrist and arm splints which help slightly.
