To ask how having an au pair works

Just that really. I have a spare room. I have two kids and am disabled, am a sole parent.
Could do with some help with the kids sometimes, plus help with the house and even the garden. Can't afford to pay much. Is an au pair worth consideration? How many hours do they help you for in return for how much money?
Or should I consider another route?
Thanks for your help.

I can’t help but I don’t think you can expect an au pair to garden.

Very few au pairs looking now so they are expecting high wages generally. I agree gardening isn't within their remit generally.

Light housework is ok (eg sweeping and vacuuming), but not fair to expect a full house clean.

Pay was previously about £90-£110 per week for 25-30 hours, but now many are asking for £150-£300 per week!
