"Wow. Just wow."

Especially in an online debate/discussion. I feel like it's used to express derision without actually having a rebuttal and it annoys me.

Online debates and discussions rarely convince the other party, I'm not sure if that's the purpose. Perhaps the phrase is meant to shut down discussion entirely? Now it annoys me even more! I think I need to go watch a comedy to calm down from all the drama.

I hate hate hate it.

Surely if it's 'just' wow, it shouldn't be repeated.

BlytheSpiritsSpirit · 04/12/2018 22:05

I despise 'HTH'.

ThatOneHurt · 04/12/2018 22:06

Wait. What?

Is the phrase I hate.

BlytheSpiritsSpirit · 04/12/2018 22:06

Oh that's a passive aggressive tooth grinder. Very much dislike that too.

YANBU. They always go on to say a few other things as well, so it never really is 'Just wow'.

BlytheSpiritsSpirit · 04/12/2018 22:21

Yes, exactly - never "just" anything.

Wait what
Can be funny in real life conversations, but is very overused online.

I hate it too especially when it comes out my daughters mouth when she feels hard done by ie cant get her own way when trying to be controlling

SoftlyCatchyMonkey1 · 05/12/2018 10:36

It is used to patronise without having to articulate wait.

SoftlyCatchyMonkey1 · 05/12/2018 10:41

Why not wait

MawkishTwaddle · 05/12/2018 10:47

'What the what now?'

Oh shut up, Janet. You're not the 'quirky friend' in an early 2000s American sitcom.
