It's 3 weeks until xmas. The dishwasher has packed up. I haven't finished the xmas shopping. I've got to get rid of a sofa and chair today but they won't fit through the doors of the room (they came in through the patio doors which are now broken and won't open) and tomorrow I have got a new sofa and chairs - hand-me-downs from a relative who can't fit them in their new house - arriving and I have no idea how to get them in the house.

I've been trying today to move them round and get them out the door so was moving the sectional rabbit cage and the fucking thing has collapsed.

I'd recommend a large axe. Mostly for the sofa, but also for anyone who says "Cheer up! It's nearly Christmas!" to you.

SpoonBlender Grin Grin Grin That's the comedy support that keeps me coming back to MN.

Trust me, anybody who was stupid enough to say that to me right now would be nominating themselves for a darwin award Grin

The dishwasher has packed up? You poor thing. First world problems 🙄

ChipsAndKetchup · 04/12/2018 14:18

Surely get the patio doors fixed as a priority?!

Fadingmemory · 04/12/2018 14:21

Serious suggestion but I understand if I am flambéd - remove the room door by unscrewing the hinges. (You are doubtless Superwoman but advise you have another adult to hold up the door). Sending calming vibes.

SpoonBlender · 04/12/2018 14:28

Are the patio doors properly fucked, or are they "just" so out of alignment that you can't get them open/shut any more? There's lots of short vids on youtube for help on doing the realignment, you'll need an Allen key or maybe screwdriver. Did this for m-i-l's front door the other week.

Otherwise you're going to have to get them open anyway for tomorrow, so you might as well concentrate on that.

thefuriousfuggler · 04/12/2018 14:34

Do they come apart? We had this issue when we moved and I thought we were going to have to get a new sofa - then I remembered that I had spent a very sweary couple of hours putting the bloody thing together when it was originally delivered. Sorted, with the additional bonus of a very baffled/impressed OH Grin

There’s always one. 🙄

Put off the relative's furniture arrival until the doors are fixed.

Can you also delay getting rid of your sofa and chairs until the doors are fixed?

Tried that, it didn't work.

Put off the relative's furniture arrival until the doors are fixed.

We can't - they are moving house and they won't fit in their new house. The removal men are doing it as part of the removals.

Can you also delay getting rid of your sofa and chairs until the doors are fixed?

No because we can't afford to get the doors fixed.

Do they come apart?

No, they came as they were.

Removing the room door might be the way to go, thanks.

As for the dishwasher it's the heating element that is broken so it only washes on cold which is useless. Yes, it's a first world problem but one that I don't need right now.

Job done! The sofa is now out of the lounge and still in one piece, even better we found the fire retardant label on the bottom so it's being offered to a local furniture for forces charity tomorrow as they are advertising for sofas.
