To think this is just rude?

We had a new starter at work yesterday, who just hasn’t showed up today. Not answering his phone and the recruiter knows nothing either.

We had similar earlier in the year when someone else kept trying to push their start date back by two days at a time and then just disappeared on us.
Why can’t you just say “sorry it’s not for me” rather than leave people in the lurch!
Aibu to think this is bloody rude or is it the norm now.

Bad recruitment tactics.
What industry and why do they run away do you think?
Rubbish management and pay by any chance?
Confused

YANBU. They don't make em like they used to (and that's coming from a 30yo!) I think ppl have no concern for job hopping either, some CV's must be quite lengthly. Such messing about has led to there being a lack of enthusiasm and team working in my place of work as we constantly have to make up for the shortfall whilst the recruitment process begins all over again.

It’s a small business but a really really lovely culture actually, flexible hours, pay is really good for the role and area.
Strange...

There's a bunch of threads here about "job A starts tomorrow but job B is better and interviews tomorrow what to do"

Don't recall anyone advising ghosting

It is rude.

Did find with Agencies though that they weren't always 100% honest about the role, which naturally led to time wasters.

Had one that only wanted a 9 - 5 Monday - Friday in a call centre open 7 days 7am - 8pm. Should never had been sent through to interview. We needed someone who would do could work in those hours.

Another turned up and didn't expect to be answering the phone. In a call centre. Apparently told it was admin.

Likely they're waiting on another offer to come through, and so keep pushing you back. They can't well turn around and be honest as to why they're pushing you back really. Otherwise they'd lose your offer and may not get the other role either...
