To take ds to the Dr's?

About a week ago my ds (8months) started having very watery nappies, to the point the nappy couldn't absorb the liquid fast enough and it just pours out 🤢 this has continued with every dirty nappy since. He was diagnosed with reflux as a little baby but around 6 months everything got better and the vomiting stopped - fast forward to now, he brings up what looks/feels like the whole bottle about 10/15 min after eating, normally due to coughing too much. Not shoeing sign the vomit burns like it used to. He also has the odd episode (maybe once a day/every other day) where he curls up and cries in what looks to me like pain. Apart from these things in himself he is happy and completely himself. My mother thinks it's just a stomach cold? Should I go to the Dr's anyway to be safe?

Yes of course you should.

Booboostwo · 04/12/2018 07:28

If your 8mo has been having diarrhea for a week you should definitely take him to the doctors.

msgro · 04/12/2018 07:32

Is ds on any solids and is he formula or breastfed?

JudasPrudy · 04/12/2018 07:33

What's a stomach cold Confused yes take him to the doctors, and do it today.

BarbarianMum · 04/12/2018 07:34

Petsonally id give it another week but there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a baby to the doctors if you are worried.

GaryBaldbiscuit · 04/12/2018 07:34

or a health visitor,?

SomethingAboutNothing · 04/12/2018 07:37

Yes that is a valid reason to take your baby to the doctors.

Madeline88 · 04/12/2018 07:37

Take him to the doctors, the nappies are a real worry especially if he could be getting dyhydrated

Madeline88 · 04/12/2018 07:38

Also wtf is a stomach cold???

ifoundthebread · 04/12/2018 07:48

I'm not sure what she's referring to when calling it a stomach cold, just smiled and agreed. He was starting on solids but once he started having watery stools I stopped and stuck to formula only.

There’s no such thing as a stomach cold.
Yes take him to the GP.

GaryBaldbiscuit · 04/12/2018 07:52

well if you have a runny nose you tend to get loose stools, i suspect was what your mother implied

erykahb · 04/12/2018 07:55

I would definitely take him. I bet he's so uncomfortable Sad hope all is well.

Adviceforhouse · 04/12/2018 08:17

Could he have ate something that maybe he has intolerance to? That can cause watery stools but not sure how long for it to leave their system. I would take him doctors x

cheesywotnots · 04/12/2018 08:23

Wasn't stomach flu the old expression for gastro enteritis, it's pretty meaningless. Take him to the doctor, hope he feels better soon.

Pandamodium · 04/12/2018 09:30

I'd take my DS at 8 months with the symptoms your describing. He could get dehydrated.

There is a few stomach bugs including norovirus going to round DD's school at the minute, it's possibly a bug. Still needs checking.

ifoundthebread · 04/12/2018 13:09

Thanks for the advice. Just got out of Dr's, said its a viral infection causing the loose stools, sickness is probably from stomach being enflammed, so need to dilute his milk and give dry crunchy foods.
