I always say i don't believe in them, but whenever i see a magpie on its own i always have to salute it. My Step-Daughter always says good morning Mr Magpie (regardless of time of day!?)

I honestly don't think that something bad will happen if i don't do it, i just do it out of habit, with a little bit of "you never know" thrown in.

Happy enough to walk under ladders and what ever else is considered a superstition

I no longer have superstitions in quite the same way, but I will attempt to avoid putting new shoes on a table, opening an umbrella indoors and walking under a ladder.

No new shoes on the table and don't cut your nails on a Friday or Sunday!

I can't walk over 3 drain covers in a row on a street, I either have to jump over one or go around (which has proven difficult in places like Oxford Street!)

I also don't put new shoes on the table.

I have none. I avoid walking under ladders but that's just common sense: I don't want anything dropped on me from a height. I suppose I don't believe that bad luck is caused by anything in particular (except maybe gravity).

I don't do the washing on New Years day although its not really for superstition reasons though more like lazy arse reasons.

Even though I lost any vestige of Christianity years ago, I still do the odd prayer on the off chance. Oh, and I have lucky knickers - Christmas ones that get worn all year round (well, on occasions where I need a lucky charm, anyway).

It’s a wierd and strange one very personal to my wierd and strange brain.

Mine is about digital clocks, so I have no idea where it came from. If I look at the time and the two numbers are the same, eg 16:16, then that’s good luck. But if it’s a minute away, eg 16:15 or 16:17, then it’s bad luck. All four numbers the same (11:11 or 22:22) is extra good luck, as is 12:34 because the numbers are in sequence. All other times are just normal and have no special significance.

I don’t know anyone else who does this, but then I don’t tell people because it’s so weird!

crosser that one's perfectly normal, can't trust a pregnancy before 12 weeks. Almost everyone keeps it quiet until that scan just in case.

I surreptitiously make crosses in the air with a free finger if I see a dead animal when I'm driving. Has to be to 12 times. I'm not religious or superstitious as a rule but can't stop doing it.

@almightysockbandit yes - peacock feathers was one of my mothers. And lilies. Also those rosette cacti are bad luck if they flower.

Am a Humanitarian/atheist and find myself saluting sodding Magpies when they're on their own - and mentioning their wives even though I've no idea if they're female or not. Avoid walking under ladders. Shoes on beds or tables not happening. And if I see a penny I have to pick it up. Fuck me sideways I'm batshit.

The drain one is a new one on me though - no doubt will be adopted and added to the list.
