hi all,

i was just wondering how you went about potty training your twins? i have 2 dds at age 3, and i'm unsure if i should buy 2 potties and let them go at the same time, just use one and let them go separately etc. I have gone through it with my 2 older dcs, but not with twins.

many thanks x

I did mine at the same time but I waited until they were totally ready at just turned three. They were dry in a week (night time was a lot longer for one of them though). I had potties everywhere as we only have an upstairs toilet.

I bought two potties but one would never use it and perched on the loo. The other one would not give up the potty....
I waited til they had been more or less dry in the day and they just did it.
Good luck

I had two potties - don’t try with one I promise you’ll regret it!

We tried with ours at two-ish and they weren’t ready. With wees, when we tried again at about 3 and a half they were dry within a few days. They were poo withholders though which lasted a long time. They also weren’t dry at night till they were nearly 7. Not saying this is because they were twins or anything!

The actual potty training was fine as they were ready.

My girl twin was ready way before my boy twin but I really couldn't face potty training them individually and going through it twice. So I potty trained both of them when they were 2 and a half.

My girl picked it up in about half an hour and barring a few accidents was dry within a couple of days. My boy twin was hit or miss (mostly miss) for about a month but got it eventually.

If he'd been a singleton I'd have left it till he was older to start but actually although it took him longer to master it I think copying my girl helped him quite a lot.

I brought my dt a potty just before they turned 2. Leeft it in the downstairs toilet and they would sit on it. Every time they did a poo or wee i gave them a special treat (cut up grape)

They are 2 1/2 now and fully potty trained at home- still need to crack outside but getting there

We only had one potty - neither of them used it! They both preferred the toilet with s child seat. We did ds first as dd wasn't interested.
