Away with youngest who is having her 21st birthday. We are chilling in the hotel with cocktails, I want to go to sleep but she has just come out shower and “getting started”. She has said it’s fine I go to bed but I’ve tried falling asleep and she is in the bath with her music singing away. AIBU to tell her to turn it off? It’s her birthday so I don’t know.

BlueJava · 01/12/2018 22:13

YABU it's her birthday!

Leonie87 · 01/12/2018 22:14

No don’t be such a bore

Drunkandstupidagain · 01/12/2018 22:14

Awk let her sing it’s 10 o clock?? Is there a hotel bar she can go to or is it just the two of you?

MrsTommyBanks · 01/12/2018 22:14

It's her 21st. Let her get every drop of joy out of it woman!

EvelynLu · 01/12/2018 22:16

Haha I figured I might be unreasonable here. Just want to sleep!! There is a bar if she wishes so that’s why I didn’t think I was too mean. She says she is happier chilling in the bath though. Ah!

It’s her 21st birthday. It’s only 10pm, can’t you stay up with her a bit longer? A bit rubbish she has to spend the rest of the night by herself!

LagunaBubbles · 01/12/2018 22:17

Eh? If you want to go to sleep what's her plans for the night?

Fatasfook · 01/12/2018 22:19

Get your arse out of bed and party with your daughter you old misery!

NoThankyouHun · 01/12/2018 22:20

Ok hun. Maybe get off mumsnet and you'll sleep better whilst your daughter celebrates her birthday alone.

Grace212 · 01/12/2018 22:20

it's her birthday!! She might want a dance round the room now - you can't just go to sleep!

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 01/12/2018 22:20

What @Fatasfook said!

PinkHeart5914 · 01/12/2018 22:21

She’s only 21 once and it’s only 10:20pm so 🤷🏻‍♀️ Don’t be so blooming boring!

musicposy · 01/12/2018 22:22

You're going to sleep at 10 o'clock on her 21st? Come on, you can't be that old! My DDs are the age of yours and there's no way I'd be going to bed - I'd be out partying with them! Go to the bar with her, and have some fun. She's only 21 once.

Jamhandprints · 01/12/2018 22:24

Can't you at least watch a movie and eat chocolate together? You may fall asleep buy at least you will have tried! :-) Its her birthday! :-)

Hwory · 01/12/2018 22:25

What a disappointing 21st to have. Your mam sending you to the hotel bar by herself because she’s farther go to sleep at 10pm.

Dextrodependant · 01/12/2018 22:27

Are you really suggesting your daughter goes to a bar alone to celebrate her 21st while you go to bed?

EvelynLu · 01/12/2018 22:27

She doesn’t want to go to the bar and actually requested we stay in

OP posts:
Fishcakey · 01/12/2018 22:29

Why go away and go to sleep? You should have stayed home lol. Yes you are unreasonable Grin

EvelynLu · 01/12/2018 22:30

Wow I didn’t realise I’d be considered old and miserable though!! She is fine on her own drinking with her music. That was never the issue it was just about her singing but I guess I’m very in the wrong

CrispbuttyNo1 · 01/12/2018 22:32

EvelynLu · 01/12/2018 22:34

I stayed up until 5am on my 21st. There was whiskey. A lot of whiskey. And some other stuff. And no parents, they were in another country. Then I slept for about 2 hours, sort of, and then someone tried to feed me strawberry dumplings.

Looking back, I've never actually felt that ill.

Anyway, leave her alone, it's her birthday. And let's face it, she's not really going wild, is she?

BackforGood · 01/12/2018 22:39

Amazed you are even asking.
She's choosing to spend her 21st Birthday with you, and you are going to bed at 10 ? Hmm
