My trusty GHDs have finally given up the ghost. They did last me ten years with more or less daily use so I can’t really complain. Are GHDs still the go to brand or are there better ones now? I have thick slightly coarse hair so do need a good one.

Cloud 9 are good. 😊

Scotsrule · 30/11/2018 07:49

I have cloud 9s, but to honest I prefer GHDs. When these ones bite the dust I’ll be going back to GHDs ☺️

MaisyPops · 30/11/2018 07:50

GHD wide plate ones for me. I'm over thin straightening irons.

blondeemily · 30/11/2018 07:52

I have thick coarse hair too and I find Cloud 9s amazing. Unlike other straighteners I've used in the past, my hair actually stays sleek and straight until I wash it again.

Corioliss are very good. Not that well known but really good reviews.

SerenDippitty · 30/11/2018 18:33

Thank you for all your replies - I’ve decided to stick with GHDsSmile

Ten years use. Im guessing this is why they cost so much. They obvs have a great shelf life

MrsTWH · 30/11/2018 18:58

I rate my Royale Pro over my ghds. I have thick hair but don’t like wide plates as I like to curl with my straighteners.

nutellalove · 30/11/2018 18:59

My GHDs lasted 13 years. I would stick with them too Smile

cookiesaurus · 30/11/2018 19:07

I got a pair of cloud 9s instead of GHDs this summer and they are game changers. They are so much better than GHDs!

floatyjosmum · 30/11/2018 19:27

I bought coraliss for my dd after the hairdresser said to get them.... £50 and definitely better than my ghds

DangerousBeanz · 30/11/2018 19:32

My cousin is a hairdresser, she told me that the aren't anywhere near as good as they used to be and cloud9 are the best these days. She uses them in her salon and they are brilliant.

LisaLops · 30/11/2018 20:00

GHD went rubbish after the mk4 model. The ones with the coloured plates snagged my hair. I had some cloud9 ones and they were amazing but I broke them. I’m now using some Babyliss elegance 235 and they are much better than the newer ghds. No snagging and they glide through my very thick resistant hair x

JEMISMYNAME · 30/11/2018 20:05

I have used ghds for years however recently bought kipozi from Amazon with a thick plate and i find them brilliant on my thick wavy hair and dont think i will buy ghds again.

miggeldysthepres · 30/11/2018 20:08

I can't believe no ones mentioned the loreal steampod. I would never go back to ghds after one use! They are amazing, everyone who's had a go has gone out and bought one. I've had mine about 2 years now and still working great
