To ask what you wear to go out

Out out really.

I really would like to buy some new outfits for the festive season as I have so many Christmas parties/meals/drinks. But everything in the shops seems to be so unforgiving and ‘out there’.

I’m keen to look nice but I think sparkly mini dresses or leopard print jumpsuits might be a bit much for me..

What’s everyone’s go to ‘nice’ outfit?

I have some really gorgeous sparkly trousers from Zara which have got an elasticated waist so comfy then I wear a plain black top with them and a gorgeous black Karen Millen coat I got off eBay. And some beautiful silver high heeled ankle boots.

Penny1976 · 29/11/2018 20:38

And I accessorize with lots of silver and sparkly jewellery

Atalune · 29/11/2018 20:43

What’s your budget?

Zara
Anthropologie
Toast
Mango

SirVixofVixHall · 29/11/2018 20:44

I almost always wear a dress, something longish or long. I Stick to shapes that work with my body shape, I’m tall and busty and no longer skinny, I have a c-section shelf-tummy after two c section babies. I like full on glamour but obviously it depends on where I’m going. I wear heels but not all that high, as I’m tall anyway, and I like something I can walk nicely in.
Then either a pretty coat or a wrap, earrings. Done.

Zintox · 29/11/2018 20:59

I have a pair of waxed cotton jeans that look like leather trousers and wear them with a silky top and heels.

PhilomenaButterfly · 29/11/2018 21:01

I only really go to the Spaghetti House, so shirt, jeans, cardi and boots.

Holidayshopping · 29/11/2018 21:08

Nice skinny jeans, black ankle boots with heels and a top-usually a bit sparkly. Oasis have had some nice ones. And a fake leathery jacket.

Nice bag and sparkly jewellery too

AnnabelleLecter · 29/11/2018 21:09

The last proper night out I wore a toffee coloured leather pencil skirt and a cream top with pale gold heels.
I have a dark silver metallic dress I'm wearing for DH's work do.
And black coated skinny jeans, biker jacket and ankle boots for a gig we're going to soon.

ohtheholidays · 29/11/2018 21:13

I have several gorgeous little black dresses,I also have a red one and a blue one.

In the past I have worn dressy jeans a silk or glittery top and high heels.

It depends on where I'm going really and who with.

CherryPavlova · 29/11/2018 21:16

It would entirely depend on the occasion. A drinks party then probably an LBD with a piece of sparkle or maybe a deep red velvet wrap. A ball, something long and more formal. Supper party just a nice dress. Carols and drinks a Christmas coloured dress (green or red) with a tidy coat that I can take off. Team lunch then work clothes with Christmas headband or earrings (yuk)? Pub meal, leggings and long woolly jumper dress.

Nothing sparkly, it screams 'Liz McDonald'

CharlesChickens · 29/11/2018 22:24

I love sparkle, done in the right way, but an absolutely plain dress with one gorgeous piece of jewellery can be just as striking.

Maybe on you it does 🤣🤣🤣

Nothing wrong with a bit of sparkle here and there , OP.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 29/11/2018 22:28

The old favourite - "Jeans and a Nice Top"

Riddlediddle · 29/11/2018 22:30

I love a wide legged jumpsuit in all one block colour. I have a black and a navy one and you can put some lovely strappy heels and accessories with them to give such a sophisticated and classy look. I'm a size 12/14 and 5'5" and these really make me look tall and slim

tinkywinkyshandbag · 29/11/2018 22:32

I never go out out...

Basecamp65 · 29/11/2018 22:41

I wear exactly what I feel like on the day..

Mitsouko67 · 29/11/2018 22:45

A dress (I have lots as only really wear dresses) and heels (heeled boots if I will be walking) with a clutch bag, jewellery and the good coat. I try to wear something appropriate for the occasion.Perfume and light make up. Sometimes wear brogues to get there and then change into heels.Something green or red nice this time of year.

I hardly ever feel like I look good and i never seems to pick an outfit right but recently I have managed it twice.

I went on a date night to the cinema with my husband (posh everyman cinema) and I wore cropped grey tweed trousers, black high heels and a black v neck sequin jumper from hobbs - I really liked it.

Then I went for an afternoon tea with my daughter and a friend and I wore a navy lace midi dress with navy heels and a very big chunky crystal necklace - I really liked the look.

Probably what happened was that on both occasions I was having a "good" hair day (I use the term loosely!!!)

WhoKnewBeefStew · 30/11/2018 14:25

I’ve found a lovely, sparkly alwrao too with long sleeves from next, it’s really flattering and I wear with navy smart leggings and boots. If it’s more formal I’d usually wear a dress, or the usual skinny jeans, heels with a nice top if I’m out with the girls

YahBasic · 30/11/2018 14:42

Out tonight in a red & yellow leopard print midi wrap skirt, with a mustard yellow jumper, tights and heeled suede ankle boots.

Izzabellasasperella · 30/11/2018 17:41

I bought this dress yesterday for Nye, if you can't wear glitter then when can you?😀
