to be annoyed with Amazon

I've been cutting back massively on what I order from Amazon but a couple of xmas presents arrived yesterday and one today - both turned up in plastic jiffy bags, as did the two I took in for the neighbours.

Why on earth switch to packaging that can't be recycled?!

Jiffy bags are reusable though.

AGHHHH · 28/11/2018 16:55

They must have run out of boxes I'm guessing.

EdHelpPls · 28/11/2018 16:56

We’re they fulfilled by amazon? I have only had cardboard boxes.

Thought this was going to be about the recent issues with delivering stuff in original boxes even when amazon packaging was specifically requested!

brizzledrizzle · 28/11/2018 16:59

Yes, at least the ones for me were sold by Amazon; I don't buy from marketplace sellers.

We only had cardboard boxes last week with a couple of books but the last two parcels have both been in jiffy bags. I won't be reusing them as I don't post anything these days - I can't remember the last time that I sent anything other than a postcard.

If you can't reuse them yourself give them to someone who can. Do you know any ebayers? I've seen peopĺe asking for them on the local pages on Facebook.

We had Amazon parcels from other people left outside in the rain yesterday, contents ruined, packaging disintegrated and Amazon wouldn't talk to me as I didn't place the order, and didn't have the order number. Have run out of patience with them. Am shopping local high street for Christmas for now on!

the other day i ordered 3 v shaped pillows

i expected then to come in plastic bag type packaging as thats what ive always had off them

they arrived in a box thats big enough for my 5 foot child to play in standing up,hes turned it in to a spaceship(hes 8)

i was also gobsmacked at the amount of brown paper that was in there as well

silkpyjamasallday · 28/11/2018 19:29

I've had a few things turn up in Jiffy bags from amazon recently, I've been keeping them to post stuff myself though, I'm pleased as it's saving me money!

I work for with Amazon FBA. It’s cheaper to send items in letterboxable Jiffy bags than boxes which may need to be custom made to keep the sizes within postage limits. Amazon postage is often free so the packing needs to be cheap but effective.

ipswichwitch · 28/11/2018 19:57

Least you got packaging. DS1’s Christmas present arrived with no packaging whatsoever, just a delivery label slapped on the box which was covered in pictures of the contents. Luckily I left him sat in the car while I knocked on next door to collect it or he’d have seen one of his main presents! Had to shove it in the boot before he saw anything and fetch it in after he’d gone to bed.

They have a box to tick for packaging when it says the gift comes in packaged so you can see what it is don't they?

I recently ordered a big ticket item but got it from John Lewis instead in case Amazon screwed up the packaging.
