To ask if anyone has done a swab test at hkme

Ok so went to docs today and I need a (vaginal) swab test, next available appointment weeks away so they gave me a kit to take home with me and take back when done

There’s no instructions there are two packages one has a tube with liquid in it and what looks like a long cotton bud, the other had a tube with nothing in it and a long cotton bud. I also have a bag with my details preprinted as well as the doctors surgery details.

Is the norm nowadays?? How do I use this kit?

What is the test for? I had to do my group strep b test during pregnancy myself and I just googled it. It was pretty straight forward. You just held the end furthest away from the cotton bud, inserted it internally and then put the end in the tube and snapped the cotton bud in half so the bit you held is removed and then sealed up the tube.

I had to do them Friday morning, the dr told me to go into the toilets and do them while I was there. I had two to do and they sound the same as the ones you have, they text me the results yesterday afternoon. I had to do the first swab, put it in the one with the liquid and then snap the end off so I could fit the lid on, the second one there was two different buds, I had to use the pink one and then put it in the tube and discard the one that was left. X
