Wearing a helmet with a scooter

Dds 6 and 9. Bought very posh scooters by exh - all good. I bought them appropriate helmets and insist they wear them. I am more than scared about head injuries falling off a kerb etc.

Exh collected kids and scooters the other day. I had fastened the helmets to the scooters and stated the girls know the rules. Exh replies 'well they will probably get scratched' I said 'I don't want a vegetable for a child hooked up to life support thanks'

Dds came home today and told me that daddy thinks the helmets are silly and unnecessary.

Not sure it's important but they chose the helmets and they look quite cool. They have no issue with wearing them and just accept the rule.

Exh supervision is shit. Dd2 usually comes home with an injury which was preventable. Hence even more paranoia from me about head injuries or am I being hysterical?

Our rule is no helmet equals no bike/scooter/skateboard/roller skates.
Simple.

OP you’re nbu. I’ve seen first hand what even wearing an open face helmet can result in. Facial scaring and reconstruction. I’d hate to have thought what might have happened if they’d not been wearing them - brain damage at best.

No helmet = no scooter/bike
