we had a family party recently, ( we have a big family) and my neice apparently left her DS at our house.
(I never saw it)
anyway a day after the party BIL phones, and asks about it; we had cleared up, and hadnt seen it.
I said I would keep an eye out for it, but really didnt think we had it.

during the week after school I was doing my usual rush of after school clubs, and had my 15 yr old at home revising for his exams.
during this time ( I didnt find out about this until two days later BTW) he had arrived with his children on the doorstep , came in and sent his kids all around the house to look after the DS.
Which they couldnt find, and they left.

I didnt hear about this visit until my hubby casually said that his brother had phoned to say that the DS had been found.....in his house. My son then told us about BIL flying visit, and that the children had insisted that they knew where it was in our house.

So my question is, am I being unreasonable about feeling pissed off about this?
hubby cant understand why I am upset!!

I dont think you are being unreasonable at all.

Bibis · 21/06/2007 21:21

What is a DS? I thought it was a 'dear son' and would imagine they wouldn't be too difficult to locate

colditz · 21/06/2007 21:21

So, he brought his kids to your house to look for something they had lost, which they said was at your house?

I can't really see the probelm, to be honest.

KbearBrockovich · 21/06/2007 21:21

Flaming cheek - I would go mad if someone hunted round my house when I wasn't there. Cheeky sod.

hercules1 · 21/06/2007 21:22

Dont get why you'd be pissed of for this.

KbearBrockovich · 21/06/2007 21:22

bit rude to do it without asking though Colditz?

morocco · 21/06/2007 21:22

pmsl
couldnn't understand how she had misplaced her son and noone had noticed
duh!
but now I finally understand, no ,not un reasonable at all, very intrusive and rude behaviour by bil

SSSandy2 · 21/06/2007 21:23

sorry but what is DS in this posting obviously not your niece's son?

JodieG1 · 21/06/2007 21:23

I thought you meant son at first too, maybe saying nintendo ds would clarify for people.

bookwormmum · 21/06/2007 21:23

I wouldn't like it - but then I do guard my privacy jealously. I'd be fuming if my house was 'searched' but I admit this is probably not the normal reaction to have.

Marmite · 21/06/2007 21:25

Ahhhhh - a nintendo ds, my children are too young for those yet - was trying to work out how she had misplaced her son too!

perpetuaphoenixfire · 21/06/2007 21:25

depends where they looked - if they just had a quick look round kitchen or living room ok, if they went through cupboards or in bedroom i would not be happy

RedTartanLass · 21/06/2007 22:15

PML - how could you misplace your nepehw, and even more worryingly you didn't know!! Then it all became clear...
Anyway.. nah I wouldn't be pissed off!!!

goodasgold · 21/06/2007 22:22

I would be very annoyed if somebody searched my home when I wasn't there. I think its tantamount to thinking you have stolen the ds.
Now that they have found it may be a good time to mention casually that if in the future they lose something to check themselves before making assumptions.

TippiHedren · 21/06/2007 22:32

PMSL!!! I too thought your niece had lost her son, couldnt believe how casual you were being when you had a potential squatter in your house!

RosaLuxembourg · 21/06/2007 22:36

I think I would be annoyed yes if I had already searched myself and not found it - I would feel the implication was that they didn't trust me.

williamsmummy · 22/06/2007 23:07

thank you, its the 'I dont think you did look for it attitude he had' that really pissed me off.

I mean, so WHAT if his kids say they knew where it was? All kids say that, and the fact that it was found in his own home pushes that point.

only gently seething now as cant maintain anger for long.
