To be still annoyed at DP?

Me and DP are usually on pretty good terms, we occasionally have arguments over petty stuff, don't speak for a few hours and then we're friends again.
Yesterday I worked a long shift, 7am till 10pm, I'd agreed to pick DP and two mates up at 2am. He was going round to his mates for a drink and wasn't sure if they were going out or not, so agreed to text me and let me know the plans. By 1am I'd not heard anything and rang him, he was absolutely smashed and after five minutes of incoherent rambling I got that he was in town. So I told him I was coming to get him. I got there about half 1 this morning and found him stumbling around outside a kebab shop, alone. Put him into my car and waited for his mates, dropped them off and took him home. He could tell I was annoyed but I told him I'd speak to him in the morning and went to bed. He called me a few names and was generally a bit nasty but I ignored him.
Today I'm still a bit angry, he apologised this morning but he can't remember anything and doesn't know what he's apologising for. I feel like he hasn't taken me seriously and has been trying to laugh it off. Now he's in a grump with me for not 'changing the record' and 'going on' but I can't help still being annoyed and feel like I'm owed a decent apology and shouldn't have to apologise for being annoyed? Or AIBU??

I'm sorry, I'm not clear about why you're annoyed?

ElizabethMainwaring · 25/11/2018 19:14

Hi. I can't believe that you worked such a long day and then picked him up four hours later! I would have gone to bed. You sound like a saint. He sounds a bit thoughtless at least if he can't appreciate how hard you'd worked and then put yourself out for him.

Shoxfordian · 25/11/2018 19:15

Why are you annoyed?

Tobuyornot99 · 25/11/2018 19:15

Let him get a taxi next time. It's pretty expected that someone will be worse for wear by 2am. Don't be a martyr (I mean that nicely), just let him crack on next time

DragonFire99 · 25/11/2018 19:17

Why on earth offer to pick him up if you’d worked such a long day? I’d have gone to bed.

Sounds like he was a grumpy drunk. Not surprised you’re cross with him. You collect him at 1am, drop his friends home, and he calls you names?!

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 25/11/2018 19:17

I also don't get why you're annoyed? You agreed to pick him up at 2am and you picked him up at 1:30am, I don't get why that annoyed you.

Yes he shouldn't have said nasty things, it was nice that you picked him up but you said you were annoyed when he got into the car and I can't see why.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 25/11/2018 19:19

Why go pick him up, he’s a grown man he
Can sort his transport home

Singlenotsingle · 25/11/2018 19:20

Why on earth did you go? I would have left him to call a taxi, although they probably wouldn't have taken him in case he threw up all over the car. Tough.

amandanorgaard · 25/11/2018 19:23

Sorry I should have said! I was annoyed that he hadn't texted me beforehand to let me know where he was going to be at, I'd asked him explicitly to do that earlier in the day as I hate not knowing plans etc till the last minute!
It's difficult getting taxis round where we live, it's very rural so I said I'd lift them.

I think OP is annoyed because DH didn't keep her updated with plans when she was supposed to be picking him up.

I'm another one who doesn't understand why you agreed to pick him up at 2am after a 15 hour shift! Do you do this often?

Awrite · 25/11/2018 19:25

Snowball's chance in hell I'd pick a grown man up from a night out at 2am. Especially after a 15 hour working day.

You should be angry at yourself for offering.

He's a dick for calling you names though.
