AIBU to hope this is new pregnancy - help!

Last miscarriage was nearly 4 weeks ago. 3 and half weeks ago my HCG was at 8 and had fallen continuously over the week from 250. I miscarried early at 5 weeks.

I've just taken a test tonight and got this. Could this be a new pregnancy or still left over HCG even though count was only at 8 nearly 4 weeks ago?

This is admittedly an annoying traffic thread I am sorry but this would be 6th pregnancy so far none yet successful so I am terrified Sad

I think it could be a new pregnancy. Good luck!

BirthdayKake · 25/11/2018 17:04

Is it darker than the last positive test you took (from the miscarriage)?

SushiRolll · 25/11/2018 17:43

Honestly, I can't remember. I think so but may just be wishful thinking.

I throw out any pregnancy tests after miscarrying as I just can't bear to look at them.

I'd suggest you get on with the gp as soon as you can. I think this can sometimes be caused by retained products, so might be worth getting them to check you over?

However, I really hope it's a genuine positive!

Thehop · 25/11/2018 18:14

I had years of trying for my youngest then an early miscarriage and fell pregnant 3 weeks later!

Looks like a definite line to me but I’d do another tomorrow and the day after to see a nice progression.

SushiRolll · 25/11/2018 18:22

sometimes be caused by retained products

I did worry that but even with no pain? I've had no bleeding / cramping since.

Bloods went from 250 to 60, 27, then 8 within a week then bleeding stopped. That was 3 and a half weeks ago now.

I think I just need to keep taking them and see and if still shows after this week make a GP appointment.

I’m hoping this is a new pregnancy for you ! Is the Dr/hospital looking into why you are losing babies early on ?

SushiRolll · 25/11/2018 18:54

Mummaloves Thank you.

No I'm waiting on my appointment at the moment although I am fairly certain I know the reason as it's hereditary in my family. Both my mother and grandmother had similar problems.

I was told to re-test four weeks after my miscarriages and if I had a positive I had to go in because it could be retained products. I had later miscarriages than you though. I think after a chemical pregnancy the body pretty much treats it as a late period and your cycle continues normally.

You need a scan really to check what’s happening. Good luck and sorry for your loss Flowers.

Hortonlovesahoo · 25/11/2018 19:10

Similar thoughts here about retained products. I had it after my miscarriage and was "pregnant" for 3months after the miscarriage due to it. I had no pain/bleeding and felt absolutely fine.

SushiRolll · 25/11/2018 19:34

Okay, I will get an appointment booked in to see! I'm assuming they will just have to go off blood results anyway at this point and if it's higher than the 8 I had last time then it's new?

OP posts:
Hortonlovesahoo · 25/11/2018 19:41

Nope. That's not how it works. They'll likely do new bloods and an echo to check if there's anything there to be safe.

I really hope it's something new for you :)

SushiRolll · 25/11/2018 20:47

Right okay thank you! I will ring tomorrow.

seastargirl · 27/11/2018 21:25

How did you get on?

Hortonlovesahoo · 28/11/2018 05:50

I was thinking about you too. Hope that it is the start of something new!

MammaHen95 · 28/11/2018 05:56

From what I know it can take up to 2 weeks for HCg to leave your system, sometimes up to a full month. Do another test in 2 weeks, either that or visit your doctor for a blood and urine test to back it up! I really hope you get the result you want xx

SushiRolll · 28/11/2018 07:47

Hi all,

I think it must be either a new pregnancy or retained product from the last. From what I've read and considering my HCG dropped continuously over the course of a week to 8, I'm struggling to believe that it's still just left over HCG from the last that hasn't yet left my system nearly a month later. If it had been in the thousands or hundreds I would have thought it possible but surely a level of 8 will not take a month to leave your system when it had only taken days to come down from 250? The EPU didn't even ask me to come back after they got my reading of 8 as I assume they considered it over.

I have made an appointment with my GP but they don't have one for another week and a half Sad I'll probably be going crazy by then so I'm considering just going to my EPU at the hospital after work. That's where I've been for all the miscarriages so they know the situation but I'm not sure whether it's a waste of their time?

I'm going to get another test this evening too and seen if things look a little darker. Or I may get a digi instead.

IWonderedLonelyAsACloud · 28/11/2018 11:53

There is no point in going to the epu unless you think you could be 6 weeks plus as it will be difficult for them to find/see an embryo. In your position, I'd take another test. If it is darker, you are pregnant.

ErickBroch · 28/11/2018 12:17

I think it looks like a positive - I really hope it is for you!

SushiRolll · 28/11/2018 13:59

Today's... Doesn't really seem any darker.

maybe try a digital test that says how many weeks?

0lgaDaPolga · 28/11/2018 15:43

I’d get a digital one. The clearblue ones are much less sensitive to hcg and I think you have to have a level of 50 for it to register a positive

Smurfybubbles · 28/11/2018 15:49

That's how mine looked with I was pregnant and never really got much darker. Fingers crossed it's. BFP for you Thanks

SushiRolll · 28/11/2018 15:59

Thanks! I will pick up a clearblue digi!
