It’s been 30 years since I was at secondary school and yet from what my kids tell me and I witness it hasn’t changed a bit. Why is this?
Sporty if rugby, netball =v cool, self elected heads of coolness and look down on everyone else. Have the ‘air’ of cool about them. You can spot them without knowing it.
Hangers on of said cool people. The middle crowd. Precarious.
Academic, interest in chess, maths, smaller types of clubs and musical= nerds.
Self elected popular crowd are actually disliked by most others and yet remain the ‘popular’ crowd despite being not actually popular.
Nerds are actually perfectly happy, have plenty of friends and yet are still designated unpopular.
I do try and tell mine the labels fade away after school and it matters not at all but I’m amazed these social structures have remained so unchanged over the years.
AIBU and far too simplistic and other schools are completely different?
