Friends and Hard Sell Networking thingys.....WHY!!!!

So just had one of my oldest friends give me the hard sell on a networking marketing scheme.

I'm all for my friends doing what they need to do to improve quality of life....but I hate the hard sells. It effects the friendship...had a few friends were I'm not as close as we used to be because they go on and on and on and on.,...looking for ins...to discuss the stuff. Like they come with an agenda rather than just being friends.

My good friend, tonight rang and started talking about this networking beauty product thing. The whole conversation felt weird and engineered...then when I said it's not for me.,..love u and be careful....research and I'm happy if your happy.

AIBU to expect friends to be just that...friends. Not people that try to sell you stuff or rope you into commission schemes.

Oh my word...I've left out the grammar and punctuation haha

You may find the above a, 'Hard Read' 😂 sorry. I'm off to find a glass of shandy.

A previous very good friend of mine sells probably the same stuff. She usually only posts on a private group she has. Clearly its not going well as she's started posting everywhere!
She seems to have surrounded herself with other people who sell this shit, and after a long time I honestly feel like she isn't a good friend any more, but you can't tell them, you "don't understand how amazing the company is".
Hopefully your friend will see the light. I'm still waiting for mine to do so :-/ Enjoy your shandy ;)

Oh god. Is this the MLM stuff?

She is no longer your mate...shes part of the 'hun' brigade Grin

rainbowquack · 22/11/2018 18:24

Oh yuck. Run. Run for the hills. And tell her why.

I refuse to have anything to do with anything even remotely MLM like.

Kelper and Buns it's like they get taken over by scripts.....

Why don't these companies encourage some originality. We live a 100 miles apart or so.....the things my friend said tonight, we're pretty much the same as a colleague said aw couple of weeks ago. White Mercedes this, white Mercedes that. Why is a white Mercedes good anyway. Lots of nicer cars out there.

Kelper, hope your friend comes back to earth, soon. And Buns....oh no, never heard of MLM....I'm sure I will soon lol Tonight was Arbomme. I had a work colleague, talking about an aloe Vera one, a few weeks ago🙄

X posts Rainbow, sorry xx

I'm guessing MLM is doing the rounds.....oh joy. I'm not going to pretend to listen next time I hear anything that remotely sounds like a hard sell. I've had enough.

There are 2 long standing threads on this exact subject, where you despair at the whys and wherefores.

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 22/11/2018 19:27

I've had that this week. I'm sure the person in question knows my views on mlm's and yet she totally stressed me out trying to flog me stuff. I was extremely disappointed and pissed off.

DannyWallace · 22/11/2018 19:30

MLM is multi-level marketing-so basically a pyramid scheme.
Juice plus, forever living plus many more.
Keep your distance, as soon as I showed any interest in possibly buying 1 thing from someone she hounded me for months!!

FetchezLaVache · 22/11/2018 19:34

Read this so that you're ready for her next time!

(Spoiler alert: Arbonne independent consultants make an average of fuck all a year - and that's Arbonne's own figures.)
