To sew childs hat onto coat

I have lost god knows how many hats last winter and gloves so I have just got my DS3 new winter coat and sewn some mittens onto a ribbon on the end of each sleeve weve tried it on he can do them him self perfect!

Now hats am sick to death of looking for them so weve just bought him one that matchs his coat lovely. I've sewn a small peice of short ribbon (about 7-10cm) on the inside of the hat where it sits at the back of his head and then the other end onto the coat loop and if he doesn't want to wear it it sits inside the hood.

Do you think this will look daft and maybe be dangerous (string by his head) The string is very short so cant get tangled ect.

No, I think you're a genius, and I'm going to buy ribbon and start attaching hats to hoods Grin

MamaLovesMango · 22/11/2018 14:48

I read hat as ‘hands’ and still didn’t think YWBU

GummyGoddess · 22/11/2018 14:49

Not daft, genius! I think that you could also attach it on by poppers so it's easily detachable when it needs a wash.

AllyMcBeagle · 22/11/2018 14:49

I'm going with genius too as long as the ribbon's short as you say.

Poodles1980 · 22/11/2018 14:49

No it’s a great idea. I have clips for my ds, I think they are for ski gear but they are a bit like those clips you use to attach a dummy to a baby

ToastyFingers · 22/11/2018 14:50

As long as the string is too short to wrap around his neck I think you're fine.

GreedyBastard · 22/11/2018 14:52

ooo poppers why didn't i think of that I even have some in my sewing box. Never mind when it needs a wash will just cut it off and resew on with poppers

I think that's genius. Mine lot had gloves on a string threaded down their sleeves for years, but the hat thing is a great idea

ExplodedPeach · 22/11/2018 15:19

Congratulations, you invented the hood Grin

Bamaluz · 22/11/2018 15:28

Why does he need a hat when the coat has a hood? That is already atached.

GreedyBastard · 22/11/2018 15:30

because he prefers a hat to his hood up when its cold.

It's just that I always bought coats with hoods so I wouldn't have to put a hat on them, because I knew it would get lost. Smile
Genius idea then.
