to be peed off that DH never brushes the DD's teeth when I go out for the evening?

I go out once a week, sometimes twice and every single time I come home to find that DH has put the DDs (aged 6) to bed without brushing their teeth. He says he can't be bothered with the hassle - it isn't a hassle, they normally do it with a bit of supervision without too much fuss. He believes I'm making a mountain out of a molehill.

I know I could do it myself before I go out, but why should I?

I've just sent him a text asking him take 23rd July off work as leave because the DDs have a dental appointment and I refuse to take them.

Yes, I'd be furious.
I suppose in the scheme of things, it may not cause massive dental problems, but he is her father, and part of his responsibility is to make sure she cleans her teeth before bed.
Lots of parenting issues are hassle - tell him to get over himself!

superb idea to make him do the dentist
You are not alone, btw

It wouldn't bother me if DH didn't do this. Think you are overreacting tbh.

bozza · 21/06/2007 12:13

It would bother me. sandyballs doesn't have the option of not doing does she? Not if she wants her DDs to have any teeth. Also sends the message that it is not that important. DH cleans DS and DD's teeth on the nights he baths them (usually twice a week) and on the mornings I work (3x a week).

Would bother me. Does bother me. Have got the message across with a bit of nagging tbh. Dentist responsibility brilliant idea.

ComeOVeneer · 21/06/2007 12:21

What a terrible attitude to parental responsibility. I would be less than pleased with dh if he did this.

Lilymaid · 21/06/2007 12:23

Force your DH to take them to that dental appointment. My dentist always comments about dental hygiene so if yours is the same he/she may shame your DH into action!

Thank you, I will show DH tonight
