To ask if paying for Spotify premium is worth it

I'm very late to the Spotify party and think it's fab, but I'm a bit over the ads and so on. I'm thinking of going premium but wonder if a tenner a month is worth it. I know it's only a tenner but, y'know, look after the pennies and all that....

Experiences, alternative suggestions gratefully received x

You can get three months for £9 if you look. Just sign up with a different email address if you really really want to save money every three months. But yes. It’s worth it

dontticklethetoad · 18/11/2018 23:36

IMO it is worth it, you can stop and start the subscription when you like.

LittleBirdBlues · 18/11/2018 23:36

We have it and we do use it a lot. I enjoy having the no ads feature and being able to choose any song like!

But I don't think we will resubscribe when it runs out soon. I'm on maternity leave and money is precious.

I suppose it depends how much a tenner is worth for you? It's 3 or 4 coffees a month. Can you spare that for the convenience of ad free music?

EggbertHeartsTina · 18/11/2018 23:37

For me it’s definitely worth it but mainly because I have an Alexa at home and she can only link to Spotify if you have a Premium account. Also the ability to download music to listen offline is a plus as I don’t get a lot of data with my mobile plan.

I’ve actually cancelled my Spotify premium as I have free Apple Music for six months, and I miss Spotify! Am going back when free Apple runs out.

Def worrh it, we have the family account and we are constantly on it

Redcliff · 18/11/2018 23:41

I love Spotify ! Podcasts, (almost) any song you can think of and playlists for anything (eg I have a fast walking one, a running run and a fast running one). We have Spotify family so my husband and son have their own as well. Well worth it.

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 18/11/2018 23:46

I love that I can listen to the same album on repeat and it doesn't force me onto "songs that are kind of like the ones you actually want to listen to".

We also have family one so DH and I both have separate accounts paid in the one payment.

Merryoldgoat · 18/11/2018 23:54

I love it - DH and I have the family subscription.

glamourous · 19/11/2018 00:11

Yep it's worth it - I attempted downgrading from premium but lack of features and the ads were annoying and I upgraded again after a day.

LoniceraJaponica · 19/11/2018 00:15

DD says it is definitely worth it. Apart from the lack of adverts she can download playlists and listen to them on the train without using up a load of data.

annie987 · 19/11/2018 00:43

If you haven’t had premium before there is currently an offer on for 3 months premium for 99p! Fab offer.

WidowTwonky · 19/11/2018 00:52

Yes it’s worth it

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 19/11/2018 01:08

Yes and I use it a lot, at home and in the car. It's fun to play around and make Halloween playlist, kids party playlist, Christmas playlist etc.

PhaedrasChocolate · 19/11/2018 01:09

I have the family one for 14.99 a month, and all of our 4 dc are on it. Such good value for money.

AngeloMysterioso · 19/11/2018 01:13

I get it free with my mobile phone contract but if I had to pay for it I would without a doubt!

MarcieBluebell · 19/11/2018 01:36

Yes. You don't need wifi.

April241 · 19/11/2018 01:43

Yep worth it, we have the family one as my OH and I both use it, think it’s around £14 a month rather than us both paying £10 a month
