It was meant as a compliment apparently but the word really makes me cringe and certainly doesn't feel like a compliment to be called one

Humble brag?

safariboot · 18/11/2018 18:35

YANBU, it's pretty objectifying language.

Racecardriver · 18/11/2018 18:38

YANBU. I’m a mother and would like to think (probably being very optimistic here) that many men would like to shag me. But I fibd the term milf a bit offensive. It’s seems like the equivalent of ‘she’s old but I’d still tap that’

Gingerninj · 18/11/2018 18:45

she’s old but I’d still tap that
I'd say that's what i see it as

I've been called a MILF and now GILF, both I take to mean that, that's all that's about me and I should feel grateful.

Thingsdogetbetter · 18/11/2018 19:00

What age was the person who said it? If under 18 then anyone over 25 is ancient. So basically you'd 26 year olds. 19-25 see anyone over 30 as ancient;, I certainly did. Lol.

I had a conversation with a colleague about this, he is 21, I'm 38.

He has a window sticker on his car 'MILFHUNTER'
He asked me how I felt as he knew my feline colleagues had expressed distaste.
I asked how he felt about it and why he displayed it?
His answer was most females he knows are mothers so all it meant is that he was single.
I asked him how he would respond if a Mrs Robinson - quickly changed to stiflers mom so he could understand was to come after his invitation and he admitted he would be scared and removed said window sticker

Feline??? FEMALE

i’m 26 with an 11 year old and i recently found out that a lot of boys in his year (year 6) have been calling me a milf. apparently one of the boys with more lax parents was allowed to watch american pie and then told all the other boys all about it. i was embarrassed on my son’s behalf but told him just to laugh it off and ignore it. i can’t believe calling people milfs is still a thing. i thought that word had died out years ago 😂 i hadn’t heard it said for ages!

Gingerninj · 18/11/2018 19:21

He's 22 and I'm 30 so i wouldn't say I'm old but maybe i am haha

I don't think you're old, but he does.

As compliments go, I'd say it lacks delicacy and finesse, but maybe that's 22 year olds for you.

Sethis · 18/11/2018 19:27

MILF is a porn category, so it's not something that fades out of social consciousness.

It's a compliment, just a pretty badly worded one. I'd take it in the spirit it was meant - so if he was genuinely trying to be nice then laugh it off, but if he was being pervy then be angry. Maybe tell him there are far better ways to compliment a woman.
