AIBU to treat myself

Single mum to 5 year old daughter who has a range of health needs.
We are not well off I am her carer and her birthday is very close after Xmas
I never ever get Xmas presents
DD has enough presents to split between Xmas and birthday.
I really really like this certain thing it is not needed but I do really want it ( I never buy myself anything ) it is not EXTRA money but out of our usual pot so could do towards some days out etc
It’s 209 pound, I have never ever wanted something that expensive.
I can get it on 4 easy payments interest free .. it is a luxury not a need
( we did have 3 things booked to donfrom now until Xmas and has Disney on ice tickets for the week after )
My guilt won’t let me press order.

Yes, as long as it doesn’t put you into debt you should buy it. It’s important to self care and everyone deserves a present even if bought by yourself.

Only caveat is that presumably you’ve wanted this for a while and didn’t just spot it five minutes ago? (My downfall- I call it clickitis Grin )

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 18/11/2018 15:24

Buy it. You deserve a treat too and it sounds like your dd won't be doing without.

PepsiLola · 18/11/2018 15:25

Buy it, wrap it up, put it under the tree.

Santa says you deserve it for being a fabulous mother xx

CarolDanvers · 18/11/2018 15:26

Do it!

onlyonmumnet · 18/11/2018 15:29

100% do it and enjoy it ❤️

Alwaysbekind2014 · 18/11/2018 15:39

So yes I’ve wanted something similar for a long time but found this particular one that I really love
It’s a Fitbit Watch but also allows me to be alerted on phone calls and messengers
My daughter has started school and I want to go back to running so for music and phone alerts ( she can get poorly very quickly ) plus the fitness side it’s something I really really want 🙈but I don’t seem to be able to justify it !!

Your health and happiness is important too. It’s the perfect thing for your need (well as you describe it). You won’t be in debt buying it. You cannot pour from an empty cup.

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/11/2018 15:45

Buy it.

Nothininmenoggin · 18/11/2018 15:49

Do it and do it now. You need some something for you that will benefit both you and your daughter. Get that finger on the order buttonGrin

LucyMorningStar · 18/11/2018 15:59

Does it absolutely have to be Fitbit brand? I've got Aquarius from Groupon and it's really good. Not saying you shouldn't treat yourself but there are cheaper options out there if you can't cope with guilt.

Alwaysbekind2014 · 18/11/2018 16:00

Lucy does it play music / alert me when messages are coming through on phone ? Etc
I’m all up for finding a cheaper one haha

I am in a similar boat as I have my eye on the Garmin Vivoactive 3 even though my 2 1/2 year old Vivoactive works perfectly well. I have enough bursary money from my college course to pay for it but like you I feel guilty spending so much on something just for myself so close to Christmas.
Dh is puzzled by this because I have also put a chunk of my bursary away for Christmas so shouldn't need to feel guilty.
I would say go for it as you need to look after yourself to be able to care for your dd and this will help. I might just put my order in for mine too Wink

Ohyesiam · 18/11/2018 17:55

Op you sooooo have to do this . You sound like you work HARD , and you’ll be able to keep on giving if you have some things for yourself every now and then. Plus your fitness will benefit you and your daughter,
Do it do it do it! X

LucyMorningStar · 18/11/2018 18:06

The one I have is pretty basic, heartbeat, steps, different workout modes and call alerts. But they do fancier models, might be worth having a browse on Groupon.

halfacup · 18/11/2018 18:16

I’ve got the mii 3 it was about £40. It has call alerts, steps, HR, sleep and a small screen. Very good for the money.

spottedduck · 18/11/2018 18:32

Will it be on sale for Black Friday? You could wait until then to see. But yes you should buy it.

LadyFlumpalot · 18/11/2018 18:34

Buy it. I splurged on an Apple Watch in January and absolutely love it. I've worn it every day and it's so handy for both tracking my fitness and for notifications. I couldn't be without it.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 18/11/2018 18:35

While the cheaper options above may be brilliant, be careful that another brand doesn't end up a false economy. I bought a cheap one from amazon and it was frankly a pain in the ass. Luckily a return and refund was pretty straightforward. If you can afford the one you want, get the one you want.
