To ask how you get wax crayon off a wall

Toddler strikes. As the title says really...it's a paper-lined painted wall. Wax crayon. Enthusiastic DD came up to me and said "I'm doing drawing mummy". Mummy says "lovely darking let's have a look, then. Oh. Shock"

Help!! Nail varnish remover? White wine vinegar? No point painting over I guess. Area is quite large and noticeable.

AllThreeWays · 17/11/2018 22:03

Mingasauros · 17/11/2018 22:03

WD40. It does work!

Usuallytootiredbuthappyanyway · 17/11/2018 22:04

I would try melting with a hair dryer and dabbing off with kitchen roll

WindyWednesday · 17/11/2018 22:05

Manic eraser

spottedduck · 17/11/2018 22:06

Baking soda

TooMinty · 17/11/2018 22:07

I think Magic Eraser will leave scrapes on the wall. I'd try the heat approach first.

IggyAce · 17/11/2018 22:07

Wd40 a friends toddler used a crayon to colour her cream carpet, she tried everything because she didn’t want to risk wd40 on a cream carpet. Used it as a last resort and it came straight out.

RosieAndJimDoTheOldRagDoll · 17/11/2018 22:07

It's her wall now, draw a frame around it and gush at your little artist. Grin

VivienScott · 17/11/2018 22:08

Baby wipes have worked for me in past

SallyOMalley · 17/11/2018 22:10

Yep baby wipes here too!

mejon · 17/11/2018 22:11

Spray furniture polish. Melts straight off (or at least it did 10 or so years ago when my own toddler was doing it). Won't stink like WD40 either.

Skatersbeskating · 17/11/2018 22:13

Sandpaper it
Paint it
Clear varnish it

Flappypants · 17/11/2018 22:13

LOVING the frame idea. It's at toddler height obviously so she can appreciate her own creations 🤣

Sounds disgusting, but mayonnaise actually works quite well. Smoosh it on, wait a few minutes and the crayon mostly wipes off.
Okay, you then have to wash your walls with soapy water to get rid of the mayonnaise...

Might try some of the other suggestions first next time!

TooMinty · 17/11/2018 22:20

The frame will just encourage more "art", only do this if you are embracing it and will decorate again in a few years!

TooMinty · 17/11/2018 22:21

There's currently biro on my wallpaper but the decorator is coming next week...

Jellyonawonkyplate · 17/11/2018 22:30

You paint over it. As I discovered today.

Sciurus83 · 17/11/2018 22:31

Magic eraser!

Coffeeisnecessary · 17/11/2018 22:35

Wd40 worked for me on a painted wooden wardrobe!!

FrustratedDP · 17/11/2018 22:39

Wd40

seething1234 · 17/11/2018 22:42

Furniture polish has worked here too but it leaves a bit of a shine on the wall.
