To ask for your steam mop recommendations

I've asked for a steam mop for Christmas (exciting I know!).

I want to be able to:
-clean my Windows
-clean mirrors
-clean my bathroom tiles, shower screen and lino
-scrub and clean my laminate flooring (borrowed my mum's and it caused no issues)
-potentially steam my carpets if that's a thing you can do (?)

Do you have one? Would you recommend it?

I have a dirt devil 11 in1 steam mop.

I like it. The only issue I have is the power cord isn’t very long and it’s a hassle having to keep walking over the floor I’ve just steamed to unplug, walk back over again to get back to the mop and then plug in a new socket and wait for it to be steam ready again. I long for a cordless one but I don’t think there are any. Haven’t really looked tbh as can’t afford to buy one right now.

Other than that I love it. It’s a happy day when I can spend it steam cleaning my bathrooms and floors.

I had a Lakeland one that broke after a couple of uses. They let me exchange and pay the difference for a shark one that is about a billion times better. I've had it for about 4 years and had no problems with it.

Oh and my shark one does have a laminate setting.

Which shark one do you have tweak?

Beetle76 · 17/11/2018 18:19

I had a vax one. (Think the current version is a S6S) ok-ish as a steamer to clean things like tiles and ovens but as a mop, it was awful. The mop part had a plastic handle in 2 or three pieces that you had to assemble. The plastic would bend when I mopped the floor. Useless! And it was expensive too.

Don't bother. I find that the effort required to use my Morphy Richrds steam mop is more than the effort required to clean floors and walls by other means.

It is the one household gadget that I regret buying.
