Posting for traffic - IBAN transfers Ireland to UK

Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience of IBAN transfers between the ROI and UK? How long do they usually take?

A client of mine has stated they made a payment to me yesterday, but they also said this on Tuesday so I'm a bit on edge as to whether they have or not.

I have asked for a remittance but so far nothing has been forthcoming.

TIA

Last time dd transferred money it took four days but if I recall there was a banking issue in Ireland at the time.

I did one yesterday but the funds haven’t reached my UK account yet.
I think they take at least 3 days, maybe 4.
I’m expecting the money to be here on Monday.

I do this regularly and if I do it before 3pm on a weekday (as in transfer funds from the UK to Ireland ) then it is in the receivers account in Ireland the next day. If it is after 3pm when I do it then it may be the day after when the receiver gets it.

I should say I have an international transfer arrangement in place as I do this regularly between accounts so perhaps , as the above poster says it may take longer if it is a oneoff payment.

I do this between another European country and the UK, and I usually use an exchange service (HiFX) - when I transfer from the Euro account to the HiFX UK Euro account it generally arrives next day. It has, rarely taken 2 days, and once it took 3 (I think bank holidays were involved though)

Has your client provided the transfer details so you can see that they've initiated it?

Thanks all.

My bank have confirmed that IF the payment was made yesterday before 15:30 then it should be in my account today at some point. They are trying to trace the payments from what little detail I have.

I'm a little sceptical, however, as they initially told me that payment had been made on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday it couldn't be paid Tuesday as they could not print my invoices (but they could view them on a screen so I'm unsure what difference that made) and asked me to provide it to them in a different format, which I did. Then yesterday I was told Payroll had left early (this was at 3pm) so they didn't know the status of the payment. This morning they stated that payment was made yesterday - so it stands to reason that the payment must have been made prior to 15:30 if they left early?

I have requested a remittance but so far nothing has been forthcoming.

They are a new client. With new clients I have a strict 7 day payment terms on my invoice (which they agreed to when I began working for them). I now have 3 late invoices (the first three I have sent to them). These were for only small amounts, however, since then I have undertaken more work of a greater value which will be invoiced today and it's making me nervous that they can't pay smaller invoices or communicate effectively with me. They have asked me to do more work this morning and I'm currently in two minds.

It's difficult as I am a new freelancer (coming back into the game after a number of years) so turning down work is hard to do - but I don't work for free either! As I explained to them, if all my clients paid late, even if the invoices are small amounts, this effects not just business cash flow but also me personally. They have been apologetic but I'm still not sure what the actual issues were - if there was a problem with the invoice format they have had almost 1 month since the first one was issued to bring it to my attention.

Ranting! Sorry!

Transfer takes one day. Sounds like they're stalling.

LMW1990 · 16/11/2018 14:16

Well I have just completely lost my shit...

Chasing up the remittance.

Payroll have been busy with a large project so have NOT in fact paid me. But 'have a great weekend :)'.

I have replied saying it is unacceptable, the money needs to be in my account today. End of. I have been lied to on more than one occasion.

A large batch of work is due back to them today and the invoice to follow. What should I do? I'm still currently working on some files but I feel like a mug. I took on the work in good faith (and because as I said I'm a new freelancer who can't afford to turn work down).

Part of me wants to ask for payment up front but I'm not sure how well that would go down.

I'm fuming
