To be scared of going in work alone

I feel like such a wimp

Work 2 hours an evening in a hospital cleaning, love that it’s so flexible and i don’t have to worry about childcare I can just go in when OH gets home from work.
Buttttt... it’s creepy and I’m such a scaredy cat, especially after stories of it being haunted. It’s downstairs where clinics are so literally no one about.

Tonight i swore I turned off a light, but when I went to put the bags out it was on Confused

AIBU to want to quit and run Blush Grin

Eek! Is the whole building empty or just the floor you clean?

YoloThankfully · 13/11/2018 21:57

I'd definitely run Grin

R3b3kah · 13/11/2018 21:58

Just the floor I clean, directly upstairs is empty too. Ward is upstairs and through a few doors so a bit away from people.
I didn’t mind at all in summer as it was still light, but now it’s winter I dred going in.
I end up ringing my other half so I don’t feel so alone Grin

I'm afraid I would be the scaredy cat and do a runner, not being unreasonable at all.

R3b3kah · 13/11/2018 21:59

It’s quite an old building to

Don’t help sometimes supervisor will nip down to say something, but scare the shit out of me because I’m not expecting anyone 😂

I love working alone. Blissful, precious, Golden fucking silence. Nothing I like better than the shop to myself, no customers and just peace and quiet. I have literally one colleague whose company is acceptable at the moment and we have a mutual understanding that if we are in together, the radio is off as we both enjoy the calm atmosphere.

Can you play music on your phone so it seems less creepy?

Villanellesproudmum · 13/11/2018 22:01

Put headphones in play your favourite music and then you’ll never know a ghost was about unless they tap you on the shoulder.

Di11y · 13/11/2018 22:01

could you download some funny podcasts and have them playing? not with earphones id be worried you wouldn't hear something.

Hangingtrousers · 13/11/2018 22:01

Headphones with music?

thewideeyedpea · 13/11/2018 22:02

I cleaned a doctors surgery and felt exactly the same way as you. In daylight it was very different but after my first winter there I quit! I hated going in when it got dark and would even take our eldest daughter for company.

DuckofDoom · 13/11/2018 22:05

Fuck that!

R3b3kah · 13/11/2018 22:05

Headphones I feel uneasy about, we have an old style lift and for some rediculous reason it is acceccable to get into where I am from outside (even though security doors must be locked, yet someone can just come through the lift) so I wouldn’t like to be listening to headphones in case someone came in, maybe I’m being irrational lol.

Thewideeyedpea - I was considering it lol
