To worry about new man in sisters life

Bigsislittlesis1 · 12/11/2018 21:20

My younger sister has had a bad time over the last year. Husband arrested for violence to her and my niece. Shes now divorced, has a lovely 3 bedroom house in an affluent area down south. Doesn’t want for much. We are very close and have daughters a similar age. We’ve had some great breaks together in the last year.

In the half term holidays, it appears she has met a new man. I have yet to meet him. When I asked about him to my sister it appears that he met her in a coffee shop, and instantly knew she was vulnerable and wanted to look after her. Apparently he was in the army and is trained in spotting suicide bombers, and can ‘read’ people to know what they are thinking. He also parachuted behind enemy lines to reccy before the troops went in. He left the army because he was shoot in the shoulder. Then was in the police force, raiding drug dens.

He now works in a coffee shop. Am I being unreasonable to think that there’s something not quite right about this?

Yup - it stinks like a load of horse shit.

Gizzygizmo · 12/11/2018 21:23

Wow that’s some drop in career I would be suspicious

Racecardriver · 12/11/2018 21:25

Lol. That’s very far fetched. She doesn’t actually believe him though does she?

TheFifthKey · 12/11/2018 21:25

These guys were always in the army doing something amazingly risky and glamorous.

gonzo77 · 12/11/2018 21:27

Having been around the army my entire life I call bullshit.

NorthernKnickers · 12/11/2018 21:28

Has your sister seen any evidence (photos?) of his (supposed) previous career? And does she have a tendency to be gullible? I'd be asking some very illuminating questions if someone were trying to spin this one on me!

MonoClue · 12/11/2018 21:30

As far fetched as a bucket of shit from China 🇨🇳
Tell her to run fast and don’t stop running

MadeForThis · 12/11/2018 21:32

Was he also a spy or a secret agent. Maybe he doesn't know her well enough to reveal this yet.

Bigsislittlesis1 · 12/11/2018 21:32

Northernknickers
No, he won’t talk about it she says. Normally no, she’s not gullible at all. But she is a little vulnerable right now.

Does the army still parachute soldiers behind enemy lines? Sounds a bit WW2?

Budgieinaberet · 12/11/2018 21:34

Sounds like a crap chat up line to me

Beaverhausen · 12/11/2018 21:37

Alarm bells would be going crazy right now. Have a check done on him by the police under Claire's law.

Kaleela · 12/11/2018 21:39

Tell her to run. Run so effing fast the road runner would be put to shame

Bigsislittlesis1 · 12/11/2018 21:41

My alarm bells went off as soon as she said he was suicide bomber trained. I’m thinking really??? Most ex servicemen I know don’t say much at all about what or where they’ve been. Stories about mates in army etc, but not specific things.

ICantThinkOfANewName · 12/11/2018 21:44

I was married to someone in the army, from a military family, I had family in the military as well. The kind of military guys hes pretending to be do not retire to become coffee baristas. In fact I have a family member doing that in the reverse order.

fifipop185 · 12/11/2018 21:47

His story stinks to high heaven and your sister sounds like every gold-digging scumbags dream come true. She does indeed need to run for the hills and not look back.

nicebitofquiche · 12/11/2018 21:55

Get his name and as many details as possible. Google the shit out of him.

CodLiverOil556 · 12/11/2018 22:02

Ask him his number...he should reel off an 8 digit number as quickly as he says his own name. It will start with either 25 something or 300 something.

motortroll · 12/11/2018 22:06

If he's a suicide bomber, how come he's alive??? Isn't a suicide bomber someone who sacrifices their life for a cause???? Did he really say that?!

HarrietKettleWasHere · 12/11/2018 22:09

SPOTTING suicide bombers motor, not he’s a suicide bomber (as if you’d go around telling people you were a suicide bomber!Confused)

Still a crock of shit though.

Notcontent · 12/11/2018 22:13

That doesn’t sound good. It seems 99.99% certain that he is a bullshit artist. A certain type that you read about in newspaper articles. I agree that you should try to find out more about him and keep an eye on your sister.

Xiaoxiong · 12/11/2018 22:20

He's full of it. Sounds like he watched Bodyguard and thought he would pose as Sgt. David Budd!!

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 12/11/2018 22:20

I've also been around the army for a lot of my life - would also call bullshit like a PP.

InsomniacAnonymous · 12/11/2018 22:50

motortroll The OP said "Apparently he was in the army and is trained in spotting suicide bombers". How did you interpret that to mean he said he was a suicide bomber?

MadeForThis · 13/11/2018 08:01

I was thinking The Bodyguard too.
