I've had a mirena since the start of last year. For about 18 blissful months, I had no periods so I haven't had to think about it for so long. Sadly my periods have now returned despite still having the mirena. For the last couple of months I've used disposable pads but I absolutely hate them. They're so uncomfortable and also really bad for the environment. I've managed to find the reusable pads I bought ages ago and they're amazing. This month my period has been so much nicer just by using the reusable pads.

Since having the mirena I've had increased discharge and had to use a daily liner. I've been using disposables which I know are really bad for the environment. Now I've found my reusable pads and gotten used to them over the last week, I'm dreading going back to disposable liners when my period ends.

My pads are from cheekywipes and I love them but they're a bit bulky for daily wear. I find even their liners are quite bulky as they're just shorter rather than less thick. I've tried their black fleece ones and their white ones (I've forgotten what material their white ones are). I bought ones from earthwisegirls made from organic cotton years ago but I felt really unclean wearing them as I felt I really smelt and got very sweaty using them.

Can anyone recommend any that are not too bulky but don't give you that awful sweaty smell?

I like the eco femme ones. They are 100% cotton - have no PUL - so really breathable. Plus, they don't move around as much as other brands.

PoesyCherish · 12/11/2018 20:04

Ooh I wonder if it's because I went for the waterproof backed ones when I originally got the eco femme ones. Which contained PUL.

I like Angelpadz. They don't have PUL.

LannieDuck · 12/11/2018 20:33

...although the eco femme ones recommended above look like they might be thinner.

PoesyCherish · 12/11/2018 23:48

Those angelpadz ones look fab @LannieDuck. I really like the patterns on them. Do you just wash them in a normal load? If I recall correctly re the eco femme ones they said to wash without fabric conditioner so I couldn't just put them in with a normal load.

I put them in the normal wash and they seem fine :)

Another vote for eco femme

PoesyCherish · 13/11/2018 17:19

Thanks both Smile

Sorry to drag this up again. I bought the eco femme ones. They were really comfy at first but now after 7 hours of wearing I feel quite damp and uncomfortable. Do you just change them more often? The disposables I changed morning and night and seemed to be okay.

Are the angel padz ones any better? Though sadly they're closing shop at the end of the month.

I love English Garden Lovelies on Facebook - not pul backed but perhaps that's why you feel damp? Try a few brands with different fabrics maybe?

PoesyCherish · 22/11/2018 12:40

Thanks @CabinFever674 I'll check them out. I tried again today with the ecofemme ones and they seem to be okay. I'm desperate to avoid PUL as last time I couldn't get on with them and just felt smelly.

Such a shame angel padz are closing soon. I love their prints. Would love to find other no PUL ones that are in cool prints.

@PoesyCherish that's why I love EGL - the prints are great ☺️ I'd show you some of mine but it would be quite outing for anyone on the page, but have a look in her albums.

NannyR · 22/11/2018 13:33

Ecofemme sell liners with and without PUL lining - I think it's the blue ones that have it and the purple ones that don't.

PoesyCherish · 22/11/2018 13:51

@CabinFever674 I've found her Facebook page. How would I place an order? It's not clear on her page Confused

@NannyR thanks I have a pack of the ecofemme ones. Ideally would like to add patterned ones to my collection. Also have some of the cheeky wipes ones back when they did just the plain colours. Think they have a waterproof backing though.

Yes, I saw that you had some but wondered if you'd got the pul ones by mistake, with you saying you felt damp.

PoesyCherish · 22/11/2018 14:05

@NannyR they're the purple ones so I'm assuming no PUL.

LannieDuck · 22/11/2018 16:37

Oh no - I had no idea AngelPadz were closing :( I've just recently bought a couple to try different size with a view to working out which I like and buying more! Will have to hurry up with that now....

Hedgehoginthefog · 22/11/2018 16:41

Re: washing - I put them in with towels because I was always told you shouldn't use fabric conditioner on towels for the same reason (decreases absorbency)

PoesyCherish · 22/11/2018 17:52

They're closing on the 30th November @LannieDuck They've got really limited choice on their website too, presumably just using up old stock :(
