Suggestions on what to do with a young family? Are places open xmas eve, day and boxing day?
Is it worth booking a xmas day lunch and recommendations for places thats not extortionate. Things to do xmas day?

The main celebration in France is on Christmas Eve. Most places, including restaurants, start shutting down by three in the afternoon. Most restaurants will be open on Christmas Day. Public transport will be running, although the buses tend to be running only a two thirds service. Parks will be open, but places such as the Eiffel Tower won't be.
