AIBU to ask what is the reason for fireworks tonight?

AIBU to ask why people are setting them off tonight? I'm not massively anti-fireworks (despite having a dog). Just curious, honestly can't think of a reason.

I have no idea, but DD is at a bonfire with fireworks tonight. I tried asking her why it was tonight but she ignored that question.

It’s the first Saturday after both November 5th and Diwali, so probably that. People having a weekend celebration.

Fatted · 10/11/2018 20:17

I've noticed a few going off tonight. Just thought it was some egit who had them leftover from last weekend!

LadyFlumpalot · 10/11/2018 20:17

Well our village is holding some tomorrow in honour of the remembrance centenary. I would assume it's the same?

Shocksandboooos · 10/11/2018 20:17

Our local rugby club have theirs going off as I type. They have an agreement with the local cricked club that they won’t have them on the same weekend. Cricket club was last week so rugby club have this week.
I think it’s quite common.

Shocksandboooos · 10/11/2018 20:18

Irritating though. Toddler Dd is in bed mimicking the noises instead of going to bloody sleep.

I assume, as Bonfire Night is officially on 5th November (which was a Monday) some people/organisations will hold their Bonfire night dos on either the weekend before or the weekend after that date - ie, tonight.

BunsOfAnarchy · 10/11/2018 20:22

Omg! Im in the Midlands and its like bonfire night all over again tonight!
Diwali was Wednesday so its defo not that.

WickedGoodDoge · 10/11/2018 20:24

So far we’ve had 45 minutes of fireworks tonight. Getting really fed up of it.

lenlo · 10/11/2018 20:24

I think we've had fireworks 8 out of the last 14 days here (Berkshire). I do live in an area with a lot of families though. I wouldn't mind so much if I could actually see them.

I think it's because bonfire night fell in the week this year some have been done on either side. We've had some going off up the street tonight.

I've just said to DP (I hate fireworks at best of time) I get its probably some celebrating week after and I did expect it and not bothered by them yet but I hope they're not going off late into the night like they did last weekend. We weren't in the area but my mum was telling me they were still going at 11 at night x
