To not lend DD money for alcohol?

DD doesn't usually ask to borrow money. She gets paid next week and will always pay me back when she gets paid when she usually asks. They have usually been for actual things that I felt necessary (new pens for college, a specific book for college, etc.) but tonight she wants it for some alcohol (going to her friends). AIBU to not want to lent money for this although she will pay it back? Thanks

How old is she? If she’s 14 YANBU, if she’s 17 what does it matter what the money is for?

Sirzy · 10/11/2018 20:15

Seems a bit mean if you can afford it as you know she is always good to her word and pays it back

Starlight345 · 10/11/2018 20:15

I probably would , you will then know how much she is out with.

PurpleDaisies · 10/11/2018 20:16

I wouldn’t.

I never lend my dc money because I don’t want them to borrow as adults unless mortgage or tuition fees.

If she's over 18 and you usually lend her money with no issues then yes YABU and controlling. If she's an adult let her have a few drinks! Bloody hell!
