To wish I was the perfect Mumsnetter

I've been reading lots of threads on Mumsnet recently about how to get organised and sort my life out - there's loads of useful info out there on batch-cooking, the TOMM/Fly Lady method, having a "present box", diarising everything, using white boards for shopping lists etcetera that I'm really hoping to implement in my life.

I'm not going to lie though - I can't help but envy some of the posters on MN who seem to run their lives like a military operation, seamlessly incorporating all of the above and more into their daily routines.

I wish I could tirelessly devote my Sunday mornings to several hours of batch-cooking delicious meals to set me up for the week, have all my laundry done for when I need it, have my bag packed and ready to go the night before so I don't forget anything, have a clean and tidy house (it's so much better for the mind) and all these other things. By contrast I seem to rush around like a headless chicken most days just to keep my head above water.

The final straw came on Thursday last week, when I had to turn down a friend I haven't seen in ages for an impromptu drink because I had guests coming round for dinner the following evening and had to spend the whole of Thursday evening tidying the shit-storm that is my kitchen/diner! AIBU to feel inadequate sometimes?

Nobody is perfectly organised all the time! Take the tips with a pinch of salt - most of us are just getting by.

Thursday is my only day off work. I've spent 10hrs doing housework and washing and the house is still a bombsite. I've got 6 ironing piles and it's the youngest birthday tomorrow so I still need to wrap.

I'm in awe of anyone who has their life in order 😂

You know the dieting guru that died and it turned out he weighed over 300lbs? Just remember when you look at other peoples perfect lives on social media and feel inadequate.

A lot of what people write will be bobbins. But also the people that use the white boards for shopping lists and the people who batch cook are not necessarily the same person. So one person might have a shit-hot career that they talk about but not mention the fact their house is a complete midden and the next might have the organisational skills of a military general but not mention that all meals are straight from the freezer.
